MWEB 200/GB out of bundle fees.

Whats the usual?

That depends on many factors, some out of your ISPs hands.
The reason I'm asking you to do this is so we can get a rough idea how badly Mweb shapes their uncapped clients. So test regularly (you don't have to post every time) to get an idea what your exchange allows and let us know if you get shaped.

Here's my test:

It's from an Afrihost capped account (4mbit line).

"You have used 329.16 GB so far this month" "whistling:

What package are you on?

Seeing as you only started with them today, I'd have liked to see a speed over 3Mb/s at least. But it is too early to blame MWeb just yet. You could have congestion at the exchange or any number of other factors.

Oooh! Oooh!

Me too! Me too!

Speedtest is like a friggin Ouija board for werewolves!

I don't know about non-premium accounts, but I've never been throttled.

I remember back when I was on Premium I never had any problems either.

I never torrented/pirated though and it was, by far, the best ISP for Skype.

For whatever that's worth :p

I averaged around 250GB per month.

My usage is much less. I'm on a 100Gb capped package used only for Netflix, [-]por..[/-] general internet and Steam. No torrents unless it's an emergency (Mrs 44 didn't record the latest episode of Greys, etc) or Kid 44 need to watch something for School that isn't on Youtube.

100GB? *hat off*

I could never survive on that much.

Hell, a few weeks ago I was thinking about the 3GB Telkom cap days... They bankrupted me big time.

It is downloading over 3mb/s...

It's a bit sad that we've reached a point in SA where you need to buy Business uncapped accounts to get decent usage out of it. It seems on both Afrihost and WebAfrica if you want to do over 100GB a month you need to buy business accounts.

I'm still with OpenWeb, weirdly enough. They're a horrible ISP and I couldn't recommend them to anyone because they're shady as fuck, but I'm not going to get value for money like I get from them anywhere else. In 2012 I bitched and moaned endlessly because my internet was basically unusable before 11PM at night and they gave me an account that I strongly suspect is completely unshaped and doesn't get throttled. just to get me to stop complaining. Also sent me a tablet and wine bottle carrier. :p

I want to move to CrystalWeb because they're actually not shady people, but I don't know if I can go back to worrying about my usage. With my current account I can decide I want to download something at 1 in the afternoon and then just do it without concern. I download over 300GB every month. With all other ISPs it seems you can only download between 12AM and 6AM, which is really not enough time for bigger games. If I'm downloading a game off Steam then I want it ASAP, I don't want to wait several evenings because I've only got 6 hour windows to download it in.

Isn't Mweb premium uncapped = other ISP uncapped and Mweb uncapped = other ISP softcap?

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean? :o

It's been a few years since I last used MWEB but they were my primary ISP for about three years. I always managed to get my maximum throughput (4Mbps) with them and never had any complaints with Steam, Skype, Youtube, browsing, gaming, etc.

The only thing Mweb sucked for, without a doubt, was peer-to-peer traffic. It was shaped to shit.

From what I'm aware, it's still much the same with their premium accounts--most protocols work beautifully but "piracy-associated protocols" are pretty much unusable.
