MWEB "exclusive server hosts" for CoD: Black Ops

Jis im super amped for this. Gonna pre-order a public ranked and private unranked server for the clan today. The thought of one more day of MoH was making me extremely depro.

It has been confirmed, WA are peering with MWeb and those wishing to play Black Ops, would have the benefit of lower pings. With regards to Freezone usage, I am unsure.

Well they will lose more money due to routing internationally and clients canceling accounts.

Reply from Rob a game server admin at WebAfrica:

Yup, its best to keep an eye open on the WAforums as I will try poke the WA guys for more goodness.

PS, im that "Rob" guy

Any way to have a full blown list, that gets updated, with regards to what ISP's are peering / will result in playable Black Ops?
That way people know where they stand and which ISP's they should or shouldn't use to play the game?

At the moment, as far as I know:
MWEB : YES
WebAfrica : YES
Telkom : NO
Vodacom / MTN : NO

I have an issue with WebAfrica's reply. They stated that they are peering with MWEB, but does that mean that their SAIX and IS based ADSL accounts will benefit from the lower pings, or does it only apply to their IS based accounts? Remember, the majority of WA accounts are based on SAIX - which is telkom?

I'd like to know how bad the pings will be if your ISP is say Vodacom (mine actually) and you connect to these MWEB servers?

Theoretically around 500-700ms, double your normal international latency. Your ISP -> London -> Mweb -> London -> Your ISP would be the route.

This is correct. Spoke to MWEB CEO Rudi Jansen, and he confirmed that Vodacom, MTN and Telkom users will connect to the Black Ops servers via London.

Hey Tinman, they're confusing the crud out of me. When they mention "Telkom"....do they mean "SAIX"? If so, isn't WebAfrica's accounts mostly SAIX based? They're not very accurate with their statements. It's so frustrating.

Neo, surely this answers any questions?

You'd think it does, but it doesn't. WA could be referring to their accounts running off their I.S backbone. I want to know about their accounts on the SAIX backbone. So far everyone runs away when I ask that question.
