MWEB ISP peering list for gamers

Dude, why are you still hostile? From memory I think you're from Vodacom, I thought VC is in the process of peering with Mweb?
Anyway, I'm still new on this forum, but on another forum I frequently visit most peeps who doesn't have uncapped yet have some sort of International IS account for when Telkom local only kicks in.
My point, the guys on DSL who is not on uncapped, can easily just get a Axxess (1gb @R19) or Afrihost (2gb @R29) for COD BO, or get a prepaid account @ R39 from Afrihost. Yeah its spending more money just to play a game, but I personally think its worth it

Yes. Neo, most of the other big Telecoms companies in SA buy a majority of their bandwidth from IS (including DSL bandwidth), and thus peering with them for international breakout purposes. Since IS is peered with MWEB, all those ISPs peered with IS will also have low latency speeds on the MWEB network, because as far as I understand, they are also in effect peering with MWEB.

It's really not as bad as you think.

Of course it isn't... it's just a few people who don't want to change their status quo and couldn't be arsed to find an alternative solution that are gonna get spanked... and to be brutally honest, they deserve it. If you aren't prepared to shop around for a better price and if you aren't prepared to put a little bit of time into it as well, then don't bloody complain when you are getting ripped off. It's that easy. The problem is... it's these people who think they are entitled to everything that make the most noise.

Going through these threads all I hear is Mweb. They are actually doing something good and no I do not like them but it's true. Not once was it said that the real culprit is actually the producers of Black ops that gave it to Gameservers.com exclusively!! They are using Mweb's hardware as per agreement and seeing that Gameservers.com have exclusive rights they can give it to whom ever they choose. First CoD screwed the gamers with the MW2 style of doing things and now by giving one single company exclusive rights. That said, you should know that its all just business so if you want to vote the bad guys out don't buy the game, but you'll be watching from the side while we have fun playing it. IRF Gaming will have 2 servers up on launch, one hardcore and one regular so all not interested in the politics of this thing, see you there...
 
Well my pings to any mweb server is 450ms at best. Their peering move totally killed my chances of ever playing Black Ops.

When change happens, there is always going to be some pain involved. People either adapt to the change, or move on. But those who do adapt look back after a while and realise how better off they are now. I reckon this is very much that kind of situation. Yes, there is a lot of pain, and I really can empathise with it, but geez guys. Once everyone starts coming to the party with regards to the peering, the internet in SA is going to become a cheaper, and the internet market a lot more competitive. And that's really good for _everyone_ in the end.

So whilst we can all appreciate how much it sucks for you, please don't come with some bullshit "MWEB is the bad guy" argument. It holds ABSOLUTELY no water when you compare them with the other major (tier 1) ISPs in South Africa. The fact that they're willing to take a substantial business risk to make the internet market in SA a better one for YOU is amazing. They should be applauded and supported, not insulted and dismissed.

Guess us Mweb users will just have to stick to iGame until Vodacom/Mtn HOPEfully drop peering charges :( and it all goes back to normal
