MWEB's R219 uncapped ADSL and gaming

So from what I gather, the account is shaped relatively heavily during the day, but is unshaped during what would be normally be the Express+ "let loose" hours of 7pm-8am.

You got it all wrong. Try downloading a file from let's say guru3d, filehippo and you will see that the speeds are full during the day.

shaping just means that they E-mail and web browsing gets higher priority during the day

Yessss....... when did I say otherwise? I was actually thinking about international gaming and the hours that it would be playable.

A friend took this option last night and he is loving the downloading.

HOWEVER, he warned that WoW was slower compared to Afrihost on the MWeb account!

He will give further feedback over the weekend since the server could've been busy last night compared to other nights. He found it odd that the pings compared the same but yet gaming was slower!

Hmmm....I am going to contain my excitement for the present and not even think about uncapping my line until I see what happens after EASSY goes live.

Why? :p It isn't a contract so you can just cancel come EASSy if something better pops into existence.

What Lydon said. Imagine the joys of uncapped internet. No more saving cap for that special something.

Uncapped... the way the internet was designed to be....

It IS very tempting.
BUT
I would have to work my line harder than usual to justify spending an additional R100 a month though.
In a normal month's internet usage, my cap runs out around 20-25th of the month and then I use my
20Gb of local.

If I had to choose between this and a capped 4Mb line, I'd take the 4Mb line and top it up with prepaid when necessary.
Leaving my PC running unattended for a day or two while downloading something seems like a waste of electricity to me.

Just trust me when I say that once you remove the ball and chain of capped internet, you WILL start using more. I felt exactly the same way, "6GB is enough for me, I'm careful and I seldom hit my cap". Now I use 300GB a month at least and I doubt I could go back to using less.

You'll click HD on every youtube video, start downloading a few big games off Steam, download those big applications or linux distributions you've been wanting to try, let your windows and games automatically update, stream full movies off the internet, try out a few of those big MMOs that you just didn't have the cap to download before (and update them with the typical 300mb-2GB MMO patch), host a couple LANs where your friends can come over and use your internet and they can all do the same without you ever having to worry about it.

*shivers with glee*

Hmmmm , Stupid Question , But If i Buy a 512 Account and use it on my 4mb Line , It will only be slower line connection speed , but still work , right?

Is this a limited time offer or is it a new product that hey will offer indefinitely?

A new product which they will offer Indefinitely. Unless they go bonkers when they hit high consumer rates.

The "limited" offer in this case is the 1/2 Price first month special , as far as I understand

OKAY CAN I TEST vox uncapped Please.

SO well hope myg get some test accounts for vox as well, since they just undercut mweb.

Looks like everyone's jumping on the bandwagon :D

OpenWeb has matched MWeb's prices, Vox Telecom has slightly undercut them, and AfriHost have announced that they will be announcing their new uncapped plans on Tuesday that will match/undercut MWeb's prices too. Woot! I love price wars. Quite clever of AfriHost, might I add, to make their announcement about an announcement on a Friday just before My Broadband stops posting articles for the weekend :D It'll stay on the front page until Monday.

Yeah its is clever plus it saves face since now most afrihost guys will wait and see and not just cancel there accounts and hope to get a better deal with the uncapped.
