MWEB's R219 uncapped ADSL and gaming

I've applied and will start on 1 April (who's fooling who). Won't be "abusing" it, it's for gaming and updates which seem to be large these days.
Prolly use 20gb / month, so WELL worth it, plus I've been told theres some awesome live Digital TV feeds which I'm gonna see if i can find and watch, which will prolly send the GB/month WAY up there.

Sounds like decent performance. I am curious to see how these guys manage after there are several thousand subscribers all using their lines heavily.

I see Afrihost has joined to Revolution. It is going to be an intresting couple of months.

Afrihost's deal is looking pretty sweet. The big score for me, is that they have all the details I'm really interested in on the product description page:

1. International bandwidth supplied by fibre.
2. IS backbone. Since I've been using Axxess Express+, also on the IS backbone and have had excellent latency, this is good news for me.
3. Semi-shaped. Same as my current uncapped package, which has practically been "unshaped" in terms of gaming and international gaming.
4. Month to month.
5. Instant online sign up.
6. R479, the lowest price to come out yet.

Now I can FarmVill as much as I want to! :D

But on a serious note, since when is it throttled? That's the first I've remotely heard of throttling coming into the mix...

There is no throttling I spoke to Openweb... they just said that the accounts will be shaped though, due to network loads.

Mweb's R899 all inclusive makes it cheaper.. But since Afrihost uses IS i am considering it :) Any of you use news servers on Mweb's Uncapped yet?

What's the difference between semi shaped and shaped??

For instance what would be difference between that compared to the mweb package which is shaped during peak hours but unshapped during of peak??

No difference. I was just putting up important (to me) points that Afrihost puts up in an easy to find place (on their product page) which most ISPs don't. A lot of things like that are often left up to us to discover through trial and error, looking up PR releases or on message boards.

Edit: By no difference, I mean that Mweb's package is in fact Semi-shaped. More thorough shaping during peak hours, largely nailing torrents, but no shaping after hours.

Yeah, I can't wait to try afrithost's uncapped deal. So far I'm happy with the R29/gig when it comes to gaming.

My cuz got the MWEB uncapped 384, and he says the performance is way off, in comparison to his per cap offering. Something about not being able to download at full line speed, and max speed he gets is 20Kb/s. Anyone expierence the same, cause i am hearing complaints. I was going to take the uncapped 4096 but changed mymind when i heard most people not getting full download speed.

Those are old T & C's I have done 100GB in less than a week and have not been throttled at all.

Thought as much.

Confirmed by MWeb :):
