MWEB's R219 uncapped ADSL and gaming

What is the final verdict with regards to this package and gaming?

Worth getting or not?

Mweb's is on par with other shaped offerings as Lydon has said. From the feedback threads at mybb the other offerings aren't coping very well with downloading or gaming.

For local gaming it works 100%. For international gaming, during daytime/peak hours you will get playable latencies, but it will be inconsistent. During the evening and off-peak hours latency is actually a lot better and very consistent. So I'm semi-retracting my original statement that latency was 400ms+. It is definitely in that range during the day, but during off-peak I'm getting 200-350ms.

I
Now I'm confused, I went to sign up at Mweb and they also told me that at anytime I can only have one device connected to the net :(
Could someone please enlighten me, thanks

I've got 3 Computers and my PS3 on my MWEB Uncapped through my router.

Loving it :D

I'm really disappointed with this service. I signed up a few days ago with the intention of being able to download torrents and files from p2p networks But the max download speed i can get with torrents is 30kb/s and an average of between 10-20kb/s. Iv got a 512 line now, originally had a line speed of 1mb/s with telkom, a 5gb account and i used to average speeds of between 80 and 120kb/s. The annoying thing is that i didnt know much about a shaped service before and i asked mweb before i signed the contract if I would get good speeds with torrents and obviously they said yes. I think i wouldve been better off with my capped telkom account.. Sigh...

I've actaully cancelled my uncapped mweb account due to me getting sub-par speeds. Getting 90kpbs on a 4mb line is not cool. And that's with normal downloads, not even gonna mention the sad rates I got with torrents.

Strange, I can often get around 350KB with combined Steam downloads. That's after 7PM of course, don't bother trying to DL anything before then. It's still great value though IMO.

I live in hickville, so I think our sad infrustracture here also played it's part in those low speeds. If our lines ever get upgraded I think I will consider this again.

I get those kinds of speeds with steam during the day. Don't think steam is shaped. Think they treat it as regular bandwith. I agree its great value.

hi guys, well, im a absolute newbie on the internet side of things, mweb is throttling the crap out of me 2, i have a 4mb line on the uncapped account, the 1st two days of my subscription month i get 200 to 400kb's download and then it drops to 4 to 10kb's all day long until i go to sleep 4'o clock in the morning the rest of the month whereas a friend of mine downloads 200 to 300 gigs of data a month mostly p2p, i maybe get 20gigs running day and night the whole month, do you think its my telkom line or is it mweb?
