[MyGame] Dark Souls

Last time around I quit while I was busy with Sen's Fortress. I thought I'd just put the game aside for a bit and then get back to it. Now years later I had to start again. :)

So I'm a bit worried that the reason everything seems so much easier now is because I'm replaying everything I did before. I guess we'll see when I get to the fortress again.

I think it is a bit easier when you know what to do, but I've noticed that the middle part of the game (after Blighttown) gets much easier and now that I'm closing in on the end I'm starting to have more trouble again. I've been stuck on the endgame bosses for a while now. Especially because the runs to get back to them are so long and filled with enemies.

You mean Gwynn?

Why not just parry the fuck outta him?

I haven't had much time to play but I cleared out the Undead Parish church last night, only to be invaded before I went to see the gargoyle's. The invader bowed and I forgot how to do gestures so I didn't - not sure if he would've left me alone had I bowed back. The fight didn't go to well - my blade didn't seem to do anything to him - he didn't bother blocking. And then he flamed me to death. Sigh.

Anyways, tonight I take on the gargoyles - see if I can do it myself this time (last time a helpful phantom lightning speared them to death for me)

How do divine weapons work? Do youjust simply add the phys + magic dmg together?

Herewith:
Normal +5 weapons and shields can be upgraded to Divine +10 by Andre of Astora using White Titanite. The Divine Ember and Large Divine Ember are required to fully upgrade.

 • Adds base Magic damage to weapons and adds bonus Magic damage that scales with Faith
 • Adds base damage to weapons per upgrade level, but at a lower rate than Normal path
 • Adds physical damage scaling to weapons from Strength and/or Dexterity stat per upgrade level, lower rate than Normal path
 • Lowers Strength and/or Dexterity scaling to weapons from Normal path
 • Adds 110 Divine auxiliary effect
 • Adds Magic defense to Shields per upgrade level
 • Weapon cannot be enchanted/buffed

Not that one
Spoiler: show
The bone lord in the Tomb of the Giants and especially the Bed of Chaos. BoC is infuriatingly cheap because a single mistake gets you knocked into the pit and you have to do that whole run to the boss door all over again.

Aah yes, fair enough.

Also, kinda related, most areas can just be run through back to the boss fog. You don't always have to fight everything up to the boss again, and again, and again....

PS: don't let you stamina bar become depleted, if it does you have to wait for a full bar again.

Short but sweet. Had a quick game and killed both Havel and the Hydra. Good night's innings.

Nice! Havel wasn't actually that hard. I just stood right in his face, then strafed around him until he hit, then I would hit back.

I think I'll have to get that ring first before I do the hydra.

I wish I killed him earlier! That ring he drops is amazing.

It's been over a week and I haven't played any Dark Souls...and reading on all your progress, I'm falling way behind. Will have to make for it tonight and this weekend. Hopefully I can get over this cold and put some much needed hours into the game.

Only played a little bit tonight. Made it back to the bonfire in Blighttown. Blighttown is really my least favourite part of the game that I've experienced so far.

hahaha. you should play demon's souls then... the poison swamp area in that game is ten times worse...

It seems using range is the only way to kill the hydra... I drowned on my first attempt.

If you step off the ledge in the front then you will fall off and drown. Your best bet is to go there by the body in the water and put your shield up. Most of the time the attacks will miss and then you just run and smack and run back. I did have 10 lightning spears that I used which shortened the fight but it was mostly a melee fight.

Trust me, that will change. ;)

A very specific area in Anor Londo comes to mind. I almost broke my controller there.

Hey don't say things like that! Otherwise DieGrootHammer will never start playing again.
