MyGaming suggestion box

What, am I not sexy enough for you? :wtf:

That's a good idea actually. Maybe we should start a thread where people can send in their designs and ideas, even if it's just for an unofficial mascot. :D

I like mascots and all, but don't we already have the little blue Pacman ghost? I think he counts as a mascot. Having another different mascot may confuse people. If we modified the blue ghost a bit in some way maybe, it would be less ambiguous as to where the mascot comes from?

I realise this might be a stretch and that the "company" might not want external influences interfering with the forum. But I have a suggestion that would minimize admin work. I understand that you mostly do (and possibly all) the housework on the forums. Yet unlike other forums, I don't see respected users of the community as moderators on the forums.

Would this not make your life, and ours, a lot easier? The post/thread earlier of "Far Cry Primal for sale" is kinda my case and point here. Instead of having to report it and wait for an admin to get to it, it could just be dealt with.
Not only spam like posts, but also with general housework/maintenance around the forum. Like when a thread needs to be locked or moved etc.

So what say you, could this aid you and in the end us as a community? Maybe put it down to a vote or something?

Look forward to your response.

I have had the same thought. But I vaguely remember this coming up previously and they shot it down. Think I still volunteered seeing as I have modded/run forums in the past.... but I could be wrong

Sounds like a good idea, will have to wait and see what Jan responds with. A community vote on who should be mods, and then we end up with a top 5 or whatever and then Jan and team can select 2 of them, for instance.

Guess it didn't go down well.

I have a suggestion concerning comps. Especially with this current comp it makes it very obvious and relevant.

-New members don't bother using their first post as an introduction post
-They Make 1 post (their first post) to enter the comp and then disappear
-Some posters did not even know what Mygaming is at all (Thinking it is a site to Buy games/hardware from)

Why not make it like other forum where you need to have more than a certain amount of posts to allow you to post in certain threads and so on. That will motivate people to actually be active on the forum to be able to enter these awesome comps and weed out the 1 post wonders.
It is great to get more activity and members, but there is no point they are inactive/not involved members.

Maybe I am the only one that feels this way and has this train of thought :)

I think it is a good suggestion. Say around 50 posts? Or even have a minimum account age of a month or something.

Yup yup 50 posts sound good to me. not that difficult at all to rack up 50 posts in a week if you are very active. Jan

My suggestion is different.
Allowing poster to only be able to post in certain threads after a certain amount of posts or age of account. :)
You did read my post right? ;)

Yeah I'm not sure if that's even technically possible. Seems a bit excessive to me, let the suckers post, they'll eventually catch on. :p

Seeing as the content of the main MyGaming page has been incredibly good since the new minions took over, I've been spending more and more time on the main website. But the poll on there, it doesn't make any sense.

The question is "Did you play the Doom Open Beta this weekend?", but the answers doesn't make sense as to what I should pick? Also, all these different polls on the main page surely garners quite a bit of insight into the average MyGaming reader, so my question is when will see some of the results of these different polls?

Thanks!

I was really just having a bit of fun with the polls on the weekend (Google one of the options to see what the reference was about). I'll replace it with something a bit more serious.

Good idea on writing articles about poll results. We might need to get the vote count up a little to write Serious Articlesâ„¢ about them, but perhaps I can post them in the forum for now?

Will have a think.
