So after all the years of having PC's that just cut it by having to sacrifice resolution and quality settings to get games to run smoothly, I've decided to build a rig that will be able to handle current games using good settings (hopefully). Admittedly I have been out of the PC gaming world for a while so it has been a rather interesting task to go through what is currently available and to decide on which components to get.
So far I've come up with the following rig (baring in mind that I'm not too interested in OC but am open to suggestions):
Intel Core i5 4460 - 3.20GHz Quad Core, Socket 1150
MSI Intel Z97 SLI Krait Z97
G.SKILL Sniper, 8GB Kit, DDR3-1600, CL9, Black OR Corsair Vengeance Pro, 8GB Kit, DDR3-1600, CL9, Black
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 760, 2GB, DDR5, PCI-Express 3.0
SAMSUNG 840 EVO-SERIES 250GB 2.5" SATA III Solid State Drive
Corsair VS, 550
Corsair Carbide SPEC-03, Midi Tower, Windowed
I have an existing 1TB HDD that I'll be adding to the mix as well as a Dell s2340L monitor. Over the course of the next year I'd like to increase the RAM to 16/32GB for the purpose of running VMs (for work/training) but 8GB is enough for now and will also add a second Dell monitor. If needed later down the line I'll add another GTX 760 which is why I went for the SLI Krait.
What are your thoughts and opinions on the above? I'm open to any suggestions.
