Take a look at the comments. Really? Even for the trolls this is a really low blow. Congrats. You've sunk from being trollish assholes to being downright despicable human beings. Are you still 15 years old? A new writer writes his first opinion column and your kneejerk reaction is to be complete, total, unforgivable assholes? Your parents must be proud of you.

I hang my head in shame. Why is the immediate reaction of users to launch a vicious verbal assault? It's like the concept of friendly and constructive criticism doesn't exist.

I agree with James.
If you guys don't like how he writes, give him some constructive feedback on how to improve his writing rather than just dissing him like a 12 year old.

I cant wait for the new login system... really this is just terrible that ppl can just go out and insult someone like that....

Typical responses from the trolls. It is getting worse, such a shame. Those comments are so uncalled for, really people are behaving as if they are animals. Although I'd prefer animals to the trolls. When people have the chance of launching a vicious baseless attacks for no real reason, under anonymity to inflict damage just because they, are either, jealous, or just because they feel like it. People will jump at that opportunity. Trolls are so eww.

Give the oke a break...

The comments should really be limited to registered users. Anonymity along with the ease of posting allows for this type of behavior.

This.

These comments are a prime example of why the comments on articles should be limited to the forums, where there is less anonymity. If people are discouraged from registering, that's fine by me, since it'll keep this caliber of trolls out. We don't want their kind here anyway.

Our developers are working on it (I have that macro'd to a hotkey now :P).

But seriously; they are working on it. Don't want to give ETA because we know how that turned out last time...

Agreed, devs don't like ETA's and will sometimes eat you if you provide one...:D

Bloody hell, the trolls are out in force lately.

Can we not just disable the comments until the new system comes online? The current implementation is doing nothing but creating animosity.

How will disabling the comments impact the site? If the impact is not significant then I think it would be best to disable it.

Yup.

These okes hide under the guise of anonymity and say whatever they want, without making any sense and badmouthing the writers of MyG in the process. If they were known, they would spare us all this troll-ism kak and they wouldn't be quite as windgat as they are now. It is not the first time that I have seen this happen. Instead of posting something that makes sense and adding to the conversation, they just take low blows at the writers. To be more specific, they normally just target one writer (with the exception of the new one).

The recurrence of these utterly trollish and naive comments makes me think that some of them are actually members of the forum, since they display some familiarity with the writers and previous articles.

Cut the anonymity and this nonsense will stop.

But on the other hand, the internet was built on anonymity, if we want interpersonal relationships then mygaming should just host real life forums once a month all over the country!

Valve time by any chance?

But yes, the comments are disgusting. Whoever makes those comments, is that how you would address your co-workers?

That is the most retarded thing I've ever read? Are you trying to justify these comments, or what exactly are you trying to say?

Anyway, terrible! This is disgusting behavior. I hope you are proud of yourselves.

It wasn't, not at all. In fact, it was considered very impolite and unprofessional to not use your real name for the first 20-odd years of the internet. Trolling and spamming was built on anonymity.
