Interesting, I don't enjoy Jim Stirling. But I've always seen TB as being fair. Like he said in his video, he wants the game to work, he wants people to enjoy it.

I must admit that I find your opinion on them, or at least TB somewhat very curious:confused::confused:. Particularly the assertion that "They are elitist, cynical, contrarians"

I only say that because, in TB's case in particular, he's been a big proponent of engaging in nuanced discussion vs engaging in outright arguments, because for the most part when he tackles a subject, he gives a fair, balanced, and logical discussion, usually landing of the middle, and giving credence to either sides of the discussion. Granted, I may like this about him as a result of myself being a fan of nuanced discussion vs right or wrong, left or right type discussion where the conversation ends up with toxic us vs them scenarios that stifle discussion entirely as opposed to nurturing, if you seen any of my 2 cent posts regarding anything, then you'll understand the kind of discourse I engage in most of the time, and it's by and large similar to the nuanced discussions TB himself nurtures (it's somewhat evident when you have a look at the discussions in his subreddit).

If you've watched his videos, you'll also be inclined to note that while his main mantra is to be pro-consumer, he expects some responsibility of his fans and consumers in terms of how they discuss things (nurture discussion, don't stifle it with extreme positions). In fact that's similar to how he treats the developers and corporations that steer the industry. He applauds and criticizes in a nuanced fashion (yes, nuance is my favorite word, I've come to realize) across the board. Why would I say that? I've seen him dish out criticism and praise across the AAA spectrum and Indie space fairly.

And maybe to some degree, there is a bit of contrarian nature, but is it fair to say that in a negative connotation? I ask because by virtue of him giving the kind of discourse he does, it means he's inherently contrary to pre-order culture, he's inherently contrary to heaping praise or criticism without giving it critical thought and in the interests of disclosure, expressing his thought process, and the internet basically thrives on hype or bashing one or way or the other as opposed to balanced discussion that is thought out. So inherently there's some contrarian in there, but your use of it without context is unfair and doesn't exactly explain the negative connotation you attached to it.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting you should like him, liking or disliking his content is neither here because we're individuals with different tastes, and he himself has advocated that people have multiple alternative sources for information, but I think your claim to him being elitist or contrarian is somewhat misguided in the context of his body of work.

Discuss or argue the points before you argue the man. And all I'm saying is, his body of work and content is very contrary to your assertion that he is elitist by the very definition of the term elitist.

P.S. I didn't really dispute the cynical point point because, yes to a degree they carry a degree of cynicism but the cynicism has context as well, and it's feels a bit disingenuous to mention it without giving some context. So I won't really argue the cynicism but I'll say I understand where it comes from.

P.P.S Always remember folks, when people criticize something, they're not attacking you, they're just analyzing why it doesn't work for them, especially when they concede to seeing why it might work for other people, and they're always looking at the different angles of the discussion.

That's fine if you are playing something more realistic like ED. You kinda espect wider range of weird planets from something based on classic sci-fi. I would like to see worlds made of purple radioactive goop or a giant diamond planet with millions of borg spiders on it
 
I downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers and I was disappointed to see that my frame rate issues are still there on some planets - usually ice planets. The drivers didn't help at all :P

I had no framerate issues. Had the smoothest game ever. Then I downloaded the latest drivers yesterday and now suddenly I have stuttering sometimes.

I shouldn't really have any framerate issues at all, I'm running a GTX980. Not quite the 980ti, but close enough. I'm really hoping patch 2 sorts some of this stuff out.

Ditto, was running fine, now stuttering here and there. Also a weird bug where it jumps out of the game and back in again, like an alt tab
 
Yowza! I wasn't even expecting much and it still manages to disappoint me. It feels like an early alpha game. The foundation is there, but nothing else. :(
 
Yeah, I got Uncharted 4 yesterday and instead chose to play NMS.

Really loving this game, maybe sitting around 40 hours now, easily.
