hi guys

OK to start off I know this is a really dumb thing to do. to get to the point i changed the CPU on my old lga 775 mobo it wouldn't post so i clear the CMOS jumper and while it was still on clear i powered on the system but nothing happened so i powered down put the jumper on the correct position but still nothing the PC has power but there is nothing on the screen and no beep on start up so i put the the old CPU back still nothing unplugged all the cable and CPU and ram reconnected still nothing i suspect the BIOS is corrupt. The mobo is a ecs g31t-m7 rev 1.0. Does any one know how to flash a BIOS on it any help will be much appreciated. there might be a small amount of thermal paste on the socket which i can not get of can this be the problem

Wow real genius powering up your pc with the cmos jumper in reset position...Try this :
-Unplug the power from the pc
-set the jumper in reset position
-remove cmos battery
-wait a few hours and then set the jumper to normal position and put the battery back. Start up pc , go into bios, and load the default configuration of the hardware (optimized defaults or something like that).

Hey I'm sure you have done some research already, but are you sure your mobo revision number supports teh CPU.
A while back I bought a Intel board, then bought the E series dual core and it gave same symtoms. When i did some research, my mobo supported Rev1.0 so it only supported D series Dual cores. A flash would not work so i sold the board to someone who had a D series and it worked.

Like i said just a thought.

Insert old CPU, if it works, then flash the BIOS first before inserting the new CPU, IF this is supported.

I know my old 775 board supported some newer CPUs, but only in the latest bios firmware.

OK, I never read the entire post :)

If you tried the old CPU and it's still not working... I may have bad news for you.

I once had a similar issue, where every board I put a CPU on, would die. Figured this out a while later, luckily they were RMA'ed as DOA.

just waiting for a friend of mine to borrow me his ram I read that the ram cam also cause this problem so will keep you posted

If you remove the RAM though, you should get a beep error code... if not, it could be the board... or CPU for that matter...

guyz good news removed the cmos battery for an hour pop it back in started the pc and everything thing is working fine.

just one thing remaining who got dual core lga 775 processor to sell me bcuz the Intel 430 is too slow.

Really, ditch that old shit, I have a i5 650, 4gb ddr3 1333mhz ram, intel dh55hc mobo for like R600 if you want. Its all about 2 years old
