Official Battlefield 4 Thread

Update incoming today

Battlefield Community!

We mentioned a while ago that there will be a Winter Patch coming in March to polish things like the netcode and soldier collisions (read more about it here: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/news/view/whats-next-in-battlefield-4 [battlelog.battlefield.com]). Well here is March and the Winter Patch will be deployed on Tuesday March 3. This will of course mean downtime for multiple platforms according to the following schedule:

- PC: Multiplayer and Battlelog will be offline for 1h starting 01.00 PDT / 09.00 UTC. (users playing Battlefield 3 or Medal of Honor Warfighter on PC will also be affected during this maintenance period)

- PS3: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 2.30AM PDT / 10.30AM UTC.

- PS4: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 3.30AM PDT / 11.30AM UTC.

- Xbox 360: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 4.30AM PDT / 12.30PM UTC.

- Xbox One: Multiplayer will be offline for 1 hour starting 5.30AM PDT / 1.30PM UTC.

Patch notes will be posted once maintenance is complete. Thank you for your patience and see you on the Battlefield!

What’s Next in Battlefield 4?

A while back, we talked about the road ahead for Battlefield 4â„¢ and how we will continue to support the game with more content. We were pretty vague. Now however, the time is right for shedding some more light on what you can expect going forward.

We plan to release new content in a slightly different way, always with our ear to the ground and enhancing the game based on your feedback. Expect game updates and tweaks, and things like a weapon pack – but also one or two bigger content drops.

Create the Community Map with Us

Ok. This is something we’ve never done before. There’s a piece of content coming in 2015 that we’re really excited about. We will build a Battlefield 4 map together with you – the community. Together with our development team, you will get to shape a playable map based on your input and expertise on what makes a fun multiplayer level. This map will then be tested and tweaked in the CTE (Community Test Environment), available for Battlefield 4 Premium members.

As part of this CTE testing you will be providing feedback* on the map, and creating the final thing together with us. During this process we’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes details of what the development process for making a multiplayer map looks like.

As a thank you to the Battlefield community for sticking to your Battlefield 4 guns and giving excellent feedback to improve the game, we want to show our appreciation by releasing the “Community Map” as a free download, available to players on all platforms.

Give Community Map feedback on the Battlefield 4 CTE forum

Winter Patch Arriving in March

In March, we’ll deploy what we call the Winter Patch, polishing things like netcode and soldier collision. This update will also tweak one of our competitive game modes, Squad Obliteration. Fast-paced and hugely focused on team work, this will become the lead competitive game mode for Battlefield 4.

In case you haven’t had the chance to try it yourself yet, Squad Obliteration features two five-player teams fighting for possession of a bomb on the map. Your goal is to destroy two out of three enemy bases with these bombs to win. Our ambition with Squad Obliteration is to create something fast and challenging for the players and an entertaining experience for those who watch the matches.

More to Come

Stay tuned for more news on Battlefield 4 updates including the Community Map and more. It should be a fun ride since you’ll be helping perfect the experience together with us.

I use Mantle in DA: I and my FPS is great. Could just be 'cause my card is much faster.

Anyway - got BF4, going to install later and see how big of a download is still required after installation; it's a 3-disc install by the looks of things so hopefully I'll be able to finish the download (of additional files) overnight.

After copying a game folder (thank tits for it), I had to do the 1.(something)GB patch. So, all in all, my folder is just over or under 30GBs, less than I thought. Will provide exact digits later.

Better helicopter agility? Awesom, now you'll never be able to down a good pilot....jets are almost invulnerable...

Seems I've joined the field at the right time. ;)

I care for my team....assault, reviving them like mad. That one 1 kill got me a service star for the M416. :D

4GB of RAM and Battlefield 4 don't mix well. Going to have to buy a new mobo soon.

Edit: Game runs better when I don't use Mantle and use DX11 instead.

My CPU and RAM are definitely holding me back.

I quit the game, it crashes. I lose connection game crashes.

How much mem do you have Hagan? and i take from your sig that's your cpu?

In total, I have 8GBs (2x 4GB), but I can only use one of the sticks/modules, due to mobo faults.
1x 4GB 1600MHz Adata CL11
1x 4GB 1333MHz Patriot CL9

The game actually runs fine. With everything but the last 3 settings set to High. Framerate does take a hit in certain areas (in and outdoors).

Edit: I will also disable V-Sync later to see if it isn't also affecting performance.

Ok there is your issue of 2. one your diff ram speeds i had that issue then went over to jut 8gb of 1600, then i figured out that BF4 has a mem leak issue where it actually uses all 8gb of your system mem and causes crashes now that i'm running 16gb i have no issue at all my game is running better than ever

And Def disable vsync what GPU are you running?

Using a Sapphire HD 7850.

I was looking for CL9 1333 modules and could not find, which is why I went for the CL11 1600.
