thats a nice system for that price. One thing you can do is changing the PSU to a Corsair VX450W it only costs like R800 I think and its also rated as a 550w and the efficiency is a bit better

Well, the VX450 is rated for 450W continuous, but the peak output is ~550W.

The Vantec ioN2+A van-550AS is 80Plus certified and rated for 550W, and because its cheaper, i think its the better buy, overall, very nice Build @@GJC@@.

Although you'd have to go with a 4GB or other Dual Channel kit for best performance.

Ok i think i'll stick to the Vantec but thanx for the advice anyway and I will look at a 2x2GB solution. Thanx for the help
 
Hi there guys, I am looking to get a new graphics card for my existing system. Currently have a Gigabyte 9400GT 512mb card which is useless for gaming. Thinking of upgrading to a Gigabyte GTS250 1GB card.

My question is this: are there any better cards out there in the same price range (R2000)?

Should I go Nvidia or ATI?
 
I agree that the HD 4890 or even 4870 2Gb card is brilliant. But I dont my motherboard can support it. I have a Gigabyte GA-EG31M-S2 motherboard. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2806 .

I also need a 650w power supply for that card and I have a Odin 470 power supply which is 470w. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...Spec.aspx?ProductID=3047&ProductName=ODIN 470

I have a Gigabyte Setto 1000 chassis, so I have the space for the card, but the motherboard and power supply is a problem.

I dont wanna go out and buy a card that wont work.
 
Brilliant answer.... been doing some reading... lots of reading actually. My motherboard does an x16 lane for the Radeon card, there is enough space for the card as well. In most tests on card it was able to run on a 250w psu. But that is the bare minimum.

So I might be able to get the card after all.

what you could do to run the card is to underclock it which will use less power and maybe run it but obviously losing performance.
