Portal 2 Steam and PS3 explained

If Valve plays their cards right and expands on their PS3 library, it could become MASSIVE.

Continue to allow cross-platform purchases and people will go wonky!

what would be really awesome is if steam was on xbox too! I don't know why they decide to exclude the xbox versions but I really want steam on xbox :D don't feel like buying a ps3 just for that purpose :/

I believe Xbox doesn't get it due to some legalities with Xbox live.

Not legalities per say.
Just Microsoft's policies for XBL.
XBL isn't allowed to communicate to ANY outside networks, for ANY reason.
Cross-platform and outside network access will never (again) be allowed.

FFXI was allowed, but it was a rare one-time exception.

It just sucks that you can't play with the same account on PS3 and PC at the same time. I was hoping that when I have a friend over I could play on the PS3 and he could play on the PC and we could do co-op, but sadly you cannot do this. Still getting the game though. (I wasn't even planning on getting it, but I picked up the orange box thursday and started playing Portal and then finished it at 1:30 this morning and now I really want Portal 2).

Haha dude where do you find the funds to actually feed yourself :p?

Well, I basically live and eat for free and I'm not really good at saving up money so I mostly just spend all my spare money on games, books and other stuff I want. I also trade games in a lot and get new/other ones with the credit.

That's pretty awesome! Cant wait for this one... too bad cross platform dosent mean console players vs pc players online :p

ive just been recently introduced to Portal (yes its inexcusable) and looks very cool. This cross integration could come in very handy if i get the game and can use it at home and at work:)

That's exactly what it means.
PC vs PS3.

PS3 and PC can't play along with XBox players, due to MS' policies.
When they say cross-platform, its PC and PS3 together.
