Pretoria or Joburg?

Since eveyone seems to like sushi places, The Rock Cod in Ruimsig, on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Peter makes very lekker sushi, and they have a two for one special on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Don't let traffic decide for you. If you are driving anyting more than 3Km to work, then no matter where you live, traffic is a bitch. Unless you are on a bike or you live in Prieska.

Centurion is very nice as well. As for the language thing, whatever. Persoanlly, I've been living in my house in Elardus Park (bought) for 4 years and I still have no clue who my meighbours are, much less what language they speak. And where else is language really a factor, because in every other aspect again, no matter where you live in SA, you will encounter any one of our 11 languages. Obviously some areas will lean more towards certain languages, but I really don't see why that should be a deciding factor. I mean there will 9/10 times at least be someone who speaks at least english or afrikaans. It's not the dude at the local KFC or PnP is only going to understand Italian or Polish.

Crime? Agreed, some neighbourhoods are more prone to crime than others. One to avoid in Pta East is Newlands. But most of those places are super expensive anyways. They are measured in the millions, not hundreds of thousands.

Overall, I really love Elardus Park. Very close to all highways. N1 north and South. R21 to airport and to Pta Central/North. Nice little shopping centres with all the day to day stores you need. Tian Tian makes brilliant sushi! And within 10km to major shopping centres for the bigger shopping sprees.

Each to his or her own, but if you like a life that isn't too hectic and paced just okay for normal living, then Pretoria East/Centurion is definitely worth considering.

Thanks, will check that out.
The N1/N14 access points and crime have been important factors for me so far... Language, not so much.
I'll only go into the office some days (which will be by N14), other days I'll visit clients and most days I'll just work from home. I just don't want to go to Spar or the gym and sit an hour in traffic just to get there.

Went ot buy supplies for the braai today half time duing cheetah game and saw about 5-8 odd for sale signs in PVR ?

Pretoria is pretty cool esp the east.

I disagree with Den on the traffic part though. Sure you get vicious traffic pretty much anywhere, but some places have slit-wrist traffic, so def consider it.

This is obviously a question for those who have some knowledge of both Pretoria and Johannesburg, or at least a bit about Gauteng.

My question is, if you had to choose, where would you stay and why?

I went to Pretoria for the first time in years yesterday and seriously liked it. It's so vast and so big but so chilled at the same time. Did not expect that. I also liked the alternative feel of the place.

So yes! Random, but opinions?

I like Pretoria East since its close to most stuff. My relatives stay in Faerie Glen. Its such a quiet area.

Living in the same area as Dansweep and having lived in Jhb for a year while at UJ i never want to go to Jhb ever.

Tian Tian is awesome!! Also the pizza perfect right next to them does make some of the best pizza's I've ever eaten.

I love it here it' so relaxed. Takes me 15 mins to get to work in centurion in the mornings.

I know Pta very very well. And know most land marks. If you drop me an email tell me what your interests are i can maybe point you in the right direction

CROSS PTA ZOO OF YOUR LIST. that place is over stacked during the easter weekend.
