PS4: no online requirements, no used game restrictions

I'm still reserving my "All praise to Sony!! The savior of console gaming!!" until the games actually start coming out and we see what DRM the publishers have built into them.

I'm reserving my comments overall , however I still don't see MS winning this battle.

This.

Sony has left it up to publishers to decided whether or not to include drm. How and what isn't clear yet.

That can be seen as either a good thing as well as a bad thing, however it's still better than being forced to pay a fee to borrow or purchase a second hand game :p

At least first-party exclusives on PS4 won't have any DRM. We'll have to wait and see what other publishers do though.

MS will probably change some of their policies... they'll have to if they don't want this to completely fail.
It is good to have competition though. It prevents Microsoft from doing whatever the heck they want like with Windows 8 and Office 2013. Now they'll basically have to adapt or die.

However, not that I think this will be the case, but if they reduce the price of their games to the same as PC, 2nd hand sales won't really be such a big issue.

Agreed. MS are really going in the wrong direction. It's scary how much pull the publishers seem to have.

Sony's business model is by far the better of the two. They learned the hard way when they brought out the PS3. They were too arrogant and full of themselves. Now it's Microsoft's turn. Not that they are arrogant exactly, they knew that gamers were going to freak out completely. Maybe they're hoping that many of us will just give it a try...... but I don't have many $499 tries to give.

That being said, it's gotten to the point where I'm thinking of waiting for the "Slim" editions of both consoles before getting them. I'm gonna have to wait a year or so but it will be the better idea considering everything that's been going on.....
