RIFT : Planes of Telara

The game ran fine last night. It's only now since the latest patch that it's giving me grief. Also keep in mind my installation stems from the boxed copy and not the steam DL.

I'm downloading the patch now, fingers crossed I'm not going to fall victim to the same issue... :/

I created a character on Steampike and joined prophecy, great guild with great people. But really dont like the Guardians.
Just a personal preference.
There are a couple of SA defiant people on Blightweald.
I am trying to start a guild there. Whisper Morgus ingame if you are interested.

This is getting old fast.

Just did the 45MB update. Log into the game to be told some files are corrupt and I have to run a recovery. Recovery is now pulling a 450MB file. >_<

Been having the exact same issue, but I have been ignoring it so far and NO issues to be seen.

Too many patches for my poor bandwidth to handle right now. You guys are gonna have to wait until April to see me online again.

I don't think it's possible yet. The only way that it might work is if someone copies the whole RIFT folder, which is huge.

one thing i loved about wow and hated about other mmos, being able to just get the patches, store them or lend them to friend. nowadays it seems we must always patch 1 file at time without the hope of just getting the archive containing the patches

Where are the Defiant SA people at? All I hear about are the Guardians on steampike.

I'm yet to start a guardian. Would be interesting to see what it's like not to spawn in the future.

I have 2 defiant chars on Overlook with 2-3 of my mates, no guild or anything yet. So it might not be the best Shard to roll on if your hopes are high.

I actually think I'm going to go Guardian this time round, it seems to me that it's the "alliance" of Rift. Playing Horde my whole WoW career kinda left me biased so might aswell enjoy the lighter side of the spectrum. Even if that spectrum involves me pewpewing massive hordes of demonic somethings or whatever the rift portal thingies shit out :>

Actually, both sides are fighting the rifts of life, death, fire, etc. and at he same time they hate each other cause of science vs religion thing.

@Voicy, if you ever roll a guardian on overlook, look up "Elzene", or who knows, we might run into each other at some point :p My character is now around lv35 and about to leave Scarlet Gorge to quest in a new zone. Should also roll my defiant on Overlook at some point since I would love to check their side of the quest line.

Thoroughly enjoying my experience. I am questing, solo rifting, doing massive events in public raids etc etc. Even loving exploring.

So how's everyone liking the game? Personally I haven't had this much fun in an MMO in years.

Hmmm ... I'll be honest - I'm still having trouble getting into the game. It just hasn't grabbed me yet. Part of it might be the fact that I'm a little jaded after playing MMOs non-stop for the past 3 or 4 years. It might be a combination of factors - I dunno.

One of the issues I've been having so far is that combat just simply doesn't feel as fluid as I've experienced in Aion with its skill chains - and any serious fight in Aion looks seriously good. I also need to mention that it took about 30 minutes of playing Aion to be completely hooked, when up until that point I had been dead-set against playing any MMO that required subs.

I'm also not fond of the BGM in Rift - I've long since turned the music off.

I want to give Rift a fair go though - more than one person has pointed out to me that the real fun starts when you hit level 20 - and I haven't even gotten to the first instance yet - so that might be part of my problem ... I'm still experimenting with classes/combinations. Looks as though I'll be settling on the Mage for now.

I'm going to be subbing until the end of May - if by that point I'm still not into the game I think I'll take it as a sign that I need a long break from the MMO genre (until GW2 comes out at least).

The first zone for Guardian is a bit meh, but it gets better after that in my opinion. Regarding Aion, it was the opposite for me. I leveled until level 24 I think on there, and hated it. Worst buy of the year there for me.

I'm starting to love it a little more each day, and considering liked it alot when first started it pretty much is the greatest mmo ever played. Loving the diversity of the classes, if you ever tire of questing, just hop into some rifts or pvp action, or organise a run in dungeon.

I have 3 main chars now: Lara - Mage, Amphiptere - Cleric and Mystis - Rogue.
First time have played a rogue in a mmo and actually enjoyed playing it. Also having the gun is pretty nifty.

Loving it. I've tried quite few MMORPGs in past. I actually unsubscribed DCUO the weekend after I played Rift head-start ;)

Never liked Aion (think I played to around level 20), do like LOTRO and might play it again at some point. The graphics of WoW is not for me (the gameplay was cool though), and the f2p games are all too lacking in some area or the other.

Lets see what happens when GW2 comes out (actually did not enjoy GW1). I'm also looking forward to trying Tera and ArcheAge and maybe the new Star Wars - I'm a trekkie :P
