RIFT : Planes of Telara

Yeah I did :), but it looks like you can't pause the download :(.

you can't, but you can recover if you get one of the famous 100X errors. just press X and press Recover. seems that a lot of people had those, but i just had one random 100x error and then restarted and it went right through.

imho i thought the beta build is pretty much there with the expected things that comes with a one thing what i can say now what i do like is how everything looked and felt.

can't really comment too much on the classes as i guess they are not yet too set in stone. however it do look like it is going to be fun so far ;)

what i didn't liked for a fact was the f~~~ers running their mouths off in the channels apart from just going and playing and trying to help with the beta.

beta NDA been lifted, i see there is quite a few reviews doing the rounds now. i for one would go for my first play as defiant with a paladin mixed with commander/paragon or commander/rift blade.

on the cleric side, well it seems nice, but definitely going also offensive also as my first role. for second role i'll do some healing spec :).

shot of our n00bs. note i'm running on max resolution so this is not a good one to judge the engine/graphics on.

ping back....

if it's one thing i'm really loving in rift it is the ability to have roles. now at least you can have 4 characters in one without the need to re-roll 4 separate toons.

in the beta around lvl 14 you get the other souls for your calling (going to be a bit more of a test to collect the other souls in the final afaik) and you are able to mix and match 4 builds (costing you about 30gp a role) for four roles. now when you are out of combat you can instantly switch between them.

i know this is nothing new, but still it beats the fact that you don't have to re-roll from the start a new toon if you want to play with a build or have say a full on healer for role 1 and all out offense cleric for role 2.

anyways, beta event 3 is loads of fun :)

i couldn't help thinking of this
http://www.leagueofpirates.com/sirvival/queuedance.html

...this was now when we initially started and there was waiting queues of 1 hour + lol. in the end mine crashed and i was in from position 220-ish for some reason. no complaining so i rolled and played :D

today i'm planning to play a bit with the bard class. still my no 1 choice for this game would be paladin/champion/<something>. for cleric, well i'm still playing around with the builds. i think i might do for role 1 cabalist/shaman/inquisitor or purifier. role 2 will be uber healer with short and "enduring" healing for those times i have to party where healing is required :)

RIFT- EPIC Iron Fortress War Golem Invasion

...ping back :D

so i tried the bard yesterday and have to say it's quite fun, well it's a bard not a tank so expect to sing "run like a girl'" a few times. now to get to the bard you have to go with the rouge calling. this was a bit weird, but i suppose expected.

took the rouge and bard as my primary. for my second soul i went with bladedancer. ok at this point i should point out i was thinking in the lines of gurney in dune type of char. so it's music and dacing with blade, it just made sense. the blade dancer also not so bad, it's offence with a chop of blades :D.

the bard itself, well it's music that you play to buff and attack. i thought well this might be some horrendous music to kill of the enemy. one music adds attack points while it does damages, the next one quick buff which brings up your attack rate. now this goes good with you blade dancer's moves which i suppose related to you classic known rouge type of attacks without the sneak and poison, being just fast attacks with also a ender move.

there is of course an ender move too for the bard which is having you blow a trumpet after you have done x amount of damage points on the enemy.

this is all cool and well, but i also added a ranger in the mix for my third class in the rouge calling. the ranger adds of course a pet and range combat. i had to do this in order for help out with my bard's solo-ing and will be changing it later if there is enough time in the beta to reach level 13 to rather have all-out offense bard without the ranger and just being blades and music.

however i could see that for partying a ranged dps bard would probably the be best so that would go in role 2 :)
