Another thing, once you get Rift, be careful of the phising emails. Never click any links in any Rift "Trion Accounts" email you get, no matter how legit they look. The scammers are getting very good, because the emails look spot on.

relax big guy :P I have a lvl 14 guardian in the prophecy guild, but this was on my lvl 32 rogue/ranger on Overlook. I'm actually wondering if PVP servers wouldn't be more exciting - since I came across quite a few guardians last night in the Gorge and their lvl 20-28 area. (I forgot the name)

It's odd, after reading this I went back to my email account to check out the last Trion email I received - and it turned out being a phishing email as well. I never click n the links as a force of habit, but this one I didn't even spot.

Shot. Thanks for the heads up. I'm in the habit of deleting anything that is MMO related - WoW was almost as bad.
 
Yeah I skipped Moonshade and Shimmersand on my cleric. Playing a mage now and aiming at doing those two, just to do something different.

Moonshade is soooo boring. The whole area just lacks any interesting features, it felt so pleasant when I got to the Droughtlands.
 
I'm still in Gloamwood finishing off some quests, and I've just hit level 24, so I'm almost half way there. Unfortunately ... I have yet to do a dungeon. *blush* Going to try to get into a group for Darkening Deeps sometime this week. When, who knows, because I see my Portal 2 files decrypted this morning.

I'd actually call level 35 half way there, purely based on experience amount. I'm also looking at getting Portal 2, just need peeps to coop with. :)

Have to say that I am a bit disheartened by the fact that it doesn't look like I'll be able to participate in any world events (or any major raids), due to the lag. I have played 6 odd mmo's in my life, and none had these ludicrous latency problems. Might even out if I upgrade to 4mb, but I'm not, not now anyway.

I had a TON of trouble with Mweb for international pings - especially playing MMO's like WoW. Crazy lag spikes. I was actually on the exact same line as you - except unshaped. I've read from several other ps3 gamers and around the web that their service is some of the worst for online gaming.

Since then, I've moved on to a 5 gig unshaped lined with Axxess. It's only R95/month and you'd be hard pressed to use all that bandwidth on JUST Rift. If 5 gigs is too much, you can just buy a gig at a time @R19. There's almost no reason to play on shaped. Keep your shaped line for downloading and grab a few unshaped gigs for gaming. :)

Ideally a 4meg line would help - but you might try a quick gig with Axxess (no contracts) and see if it helps. Alternatively, it might just be the game (shrugs). I'll have to let you know my experience here in a couple of weeks.

Where are you located? I'm in the same boat as Isengard, MWeb uncapped in Cape Town gives about the same latency as using another ISP and a ping reduction service (used to play WoW on Afrihost, using Battleping). Think it's because MW set up some sort of direct Cape Town link late last year (or early this year).

Grahamstown - Eastern Cape. I was killing myself to get sub 400 pings with wowtunnels, and the lag spikes were unbearable. I switched to Axxess and everything cleared up. Telkom decided to bump my line from 4 megs to 8 a couple weeks ago, and I'm keen to see how MMO's are going to pan out on my computer. My PS3 gaming has seen a drop in ping already.

RIVER OF SOULS
* Expect mailbox delivery of your River of Souls Event Reward Pack shortly after this update hits your shards, for each character that existed prior to the River of Souls Phase 2 start point - see the River of Souls World Event Wrapup thread on the General Discussion forum for more details on the reward pack itself.
* River of Souls event merchants will remain available for several more days to give you time for last-minute purchases. These will eventually be removed, so don't delay too much!
* The River of Souls daily quests have been removed now that the event has concluded.
* Characters are now required to be level 50 to enter the River of Souls raid zone.
* Discordant Pillar can no longer drop loot.
* Plutonus: Adjusted the placement of the 'lightning fence' during the latter phase of this encounter.
* Plutonus: Thundering Fists no longer reduces Death damage dealt by Plutonus.
* Alsbeth now spends a bit less time on the ground between air phases.
* Shadetouched Weapon Caches have been renamed so players can tell which cache awards what level of items.
