Rumour Next-gen Xbox chipset in production, launching late 2013
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
the GPU won’t be from the 7000 series, but the 6000 series, somewhat “akin†to the Radeon HD 6670 that launched last year
If that part is true then they shouldn't even bother. The 6670 is weak and definitely wont qualify as next generation. I thought the new consoles would be native 1080p on all games...
SO many rumours, flip. Really hope this is false though, a half arsed upgrade wont go down too well with me. And a late 2013 release is miles away in terms of tech advances. They've gotta aim higher than this, surely.
It's a massive upgrade and I don't think it will really need a 7xxx ATI card.
I stand under correction when I say the following: The current XBox's run a custom ATI Xenos GFX processor running at, I believe, about 500MHz or something like that? And just look at what it can do. Undoubtedly the next-gen XBox will also customize this ATI 6xxx chipset to function as they need it and it will be more than enough to handle any games for a while. They need to keep costs down. Console games are frame locked anyway. So why use a higher end card that will end up giving exactly the same speeds of the lower end card? It brings down production costs etc using lower priced tech.
and then sony steps out and announces that the ps4 will run on Nuclear energy![]()
I don't pretend to be an expert, but I tend to agree. It is also worth noting that console games will be optimised to run on 1 set of hardware. Unlike a PC game that needs to be "generic" enough to run on many many thousands of combinations. So you don't need something quite as beefy to get the same performance.
Anyways, just my 5c worth.
I just want to see my sig. Miss you BF3.
/if thats not trolling i dont know
i dont get why they would like to use the HD6000 instead of the new HD7000 series(i would think newer one could show off some green tech and give gamers one more reason why they would need to upgrade sooner rather than later)
LOL, well I would buy one then! But it would be a pretty bad PR move on Sony's part, with all these anti-nuclear hippiesand then sony steps out and announces that the ps4 will run on Nuclear energy![]()
