Sacred 2 Discussion

Gradius, if you somehow didn't get my pm, what I said in it was that I don't mind snail-mailing you a copy of the 1Gb patch if you are prepared to wait that long.

Well...unfortunately I don't drive, so I have to wait for weekends to go to Postnet to
post anything.

I know that it is a rotten solution, but if you cannot find anyone in your area who will
give you the patch....

So guys, is this game honestly worth the money??? Im not gonna go spend R400 for nothing, then im gonna be

To be honest Gradius, I wouldn't pay that amount of money for ANY PC game.

Try to find someone who no longer wants their copy and make sure that he or she has revoked their activation and uninstalled before they sell it to you or wait for the game to hit the bargain bins.

Gradius.......I wouldn't spend R400 on a game if its Metacritic Score was 100% and no reviewer in the world could fand the slightest fault with it.

R400 is more than I am prepared to pay for any title.
It's Rusty's Diving Weight story all over again.

I on the other hand this it is 100% worth this price.

Do you like Action RPG's Gradius? If you even mildly like them then this is well worth it.

People will go and spend this kind of money on action titles that they then play for under 10hrs, while with this you will easily get 20+ and this is even if you dislike it. Any person who likes this genre will get about 100hrs out of this EASY.

And far as builds / skills go Phoenix. Just remember not to use too many Runes, sometimes even your most used skills are better off only at 1 Rune. Later on you will get a TON of +skill items that will boost them like crazy.

Also be careful with buffs. Those have an overall effect on lengthening your cooldown's on your skills when active.

Another thing... GET Bargaining on a character ASAP! That skill is soooo worth pumping point into. You will be shocked at what you will find at merchants then. Also Enhanced Perception / Forging are damn useful.

***Also just wanted to add that it is real sad that Ascaron closed down (the game is still getting support from Deep Silver however). You can really see they put a lot of love into this game. I think the production value in some places really let it down - like the bugs and the voice acting. I wonder how well they could have done with a big budget and the proper support.

All this makes me wonder about the gaming industry, and who really gets to decide what makes it and what doesn't (and I do not think it is largely up to the consumer). I have seen so many reviews for games with super high ratings with the right brand name / brand backing / hype, that actually are nothing special. And then I see some amazing yet slightly buggy game(s) from non-mainstream companies get appalling reviews. The funny thing is, in my opinion, many of those game(s) far surpass the aforementioned 'super high rated' games with 'dubious' ratings. ***

Sacred 2 got nasty.

I had some Fiance commit suicide in front of me. :(

Where do I get bargaining from?

Ascaron has closed down?

That is terrible news. So I cannot play the game in a year's time if the fancy takes me?

Runes? Buffs? All a bit much for me at the mo... :o

Press C and it should be in the skills you can unlock there. Most people try have a character maxing it out as soon as they can while not gimping too much on killing power skills. Bargaining will get you powerful items at Merchants, which would otherwise almost be impossible to find off drops.

Yeah sadly they have, but Deep Silver are still running support for this game. And as far as I know the online servers will not close any time soon. A download-able addon pack is also coming soon, adding a new class - Dragon Mage. So this game is not dead.

Well the single-player portion will always be there, and they have said they will remove any online activation when support finally dies, with a patch to remove it.

Runes are those small items you right click to learn / upgrade a Combat Art. Just remember you can use as many as you like and the damage will go up, but so will the recharge time.

When you level up the recharge time goes a bit down on all Combat Arts, so keep in mind how long you think would make most sense on a Combat Art and try keep the recharge to that, ie for a spam Combat Art you would use often, say about 3s recharge is good. You will find you get more DPS for quickly using a weaker Combat Art over and over at a fast rate compared to a high level Combat Art that has HIGH damage but also a long recharge.

Also you can consider using a Blacksmith to forge Runes into items, increasing its damage. A lvl 2 Combat Art may have say 10s recharge. If you only use 1 Rune, and then socket another 1 Rune into an item the Combat Art lvl will also be 2 and hit has hard but only have say a 5s recharge.

As far as Buffs go. Every class has Combat Art buffs, they rock, but also come with a price. When you have them active they will increase all recharge times on associated Combat Arts. And the higher the level the buff Combat Art active is, the higher the recharge on other Combat Arts.

Deep Silver owned by Koch media have take over and yesterday at Gamescom announced Sacred 3. So I think its safe to assume you will still be able to play sacred 2. Besides the expansion is still coming out in October.

It sure is a pity about Ascaron. If a Sacred 3 is in development then just who is developing it then.

Nice amount of tips tehNihilist. Will surely help out the newer guys. I played Sacred Gold just before starting Sacred 2 and it really helped. The leveling system can be a little tough to understand initially and you can easily mess your build up, only realising by the later levels how much you did. Just ask my brother :p.

Ok I bought the game, @ home now. just for the 25gb install to finish and install the patches i have and hopefully everything will work out nicely :)
