Screen not coming on with new motherboard

Did the motherboard work by who ever you got it from? Find out what was the difference between you and him was. Your GPU should still work if it was working.

Its not you LCD.. If you use it for your PS3 then it is working. If you not getting beeps it means your oard not posting.. There are only two reasons why this happens the BIOS is shot which i doubt, or you CPU not compatible with the Motherboard. But if you choose not to test it then i cant force you. I am only trying to help you find your problem.

For the Record if your CPU first generation LGA775 and the board was manufactured witin the last 3years under the new spec then the CPU is your issue.. Other than dat you have tested almost everyything else but what i read.

It's not that I'm unwilling to test the CPU. I just can't test it. I only have one CPU and I'm about the only person I know with a PC. All my friends that are gamers only have consoles. The guy I got the motherboard from was just a random customer who came to the store I work in and according to him it works fine.

Like I said, I don't think there's anything wrong with anything in my PC. Everything was working fine with my previous mobo, except that it lost my drives the whole time. I don't know whether or not my CPU is compatible with the "new" mobo or not, all I know is they are both socket 775. (I thought any socket 775 CPU works on any socket 775 board). I don't really know much about hardware.

I don't know if you have solved this or not, but I don't think your processor is supported by that board. As I am aware, it is a relatively new MB and that processor is aged.

Otherwise, try taking your graphics card out, and then plug your monitor into the onboard graphics.

Do you have a speaker that you can plug into the MB? This acts a diagnostic tool and the beeps will tell you exactly what is wrong and what you need to change.

Oh, and what is your processors system buss speed? 800Mhz or less? This may be the problem with a compatibility point with the MB.

Ditto , get a pc speaker and lets have the result of the beeps you hear .. Its your cheapest diagnostic tool right now.

I'm getting a new mobo tomorrow that my brother is sending me from jhb. One of his IT technician friends is gonna install everything for me. Hopefully that will sort out my problem as I'm getting pretty sick of not having access to my music.

My PC lives!!! :D It's been a while, but I finally got the new motherboard installed and it is workly perfectly fine. The only problem I have now is trying to install the sound drivers, apparently the drivers aren't compatible with XP SP3. Everytime it boots Windows I get a message about " new hardware - Microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio", am busy downloading something that will, hopefully, sort it out.

Soon I can play Mass Effect 2, can't wait :D

Got an ASUS P5WD PREMIUM motherboard, but I sorted out my sound issue a while ago, thanks anyway. :)
