Thats probably why it was well received. But unless you are actually a retro shooter fan, something I am not, this is not worth it. I didn't like serious sam way back before it was "retro"
 
Different strokes for different folks. I kinda like the whole, kamikaze style of gameplay one can adopt in Serious Sam. I'm not epically good at shooters if tactics are involved. I like to rush at things head on and blow shit up ^_^. But then again I'm not a huge fan of FPS games in the first place, but I still have a special place in my soulless body for Serious Sam and Crysis

Crysis is a tactical shooter.... :/

But yeah, to each his/her own.
 
Crap, now you tell me =/ I was running in head first and blasting my way through things ^_^. Depends on your strategy I guess. I love being able to play kamikaze style. Crysis gave one the choice to either go in a little more organised or allowed one to just run in and destroy everything in sight
 
@ OmegaFenix, I disagree COMPLETELY with you. I was never a big fan of Serious Sam, but Serious Sam 3, just brings something with it that's just that much more special than calling it a retro shooter.

I think this "retro" thing they calling it is dumb, rather look at Serious Sam 3 as a mindless FPS, where more baddies, more guns, more explosion and tons of ammo is what you looking for, then SS3 is where you will get it. Serious Sam is instant gratification.

Serious Sam 3 is a lot of fun period, don't expect much else, but don't call it retro as that is just retarded.

And WTF is this where they comparing DNF with SS3, SS3 has a game engine that is pretty, DNF doesn't.
 
I liked the Serious Sam games, was kind of fun with 8 people on the hardest difficulty at lans! But yeah not everyone will like it, I will definitely look at it for some mindless fun.

Sounds to me like you agree exactly with me, I said "unless you like old-school/retro/mindless shooters you probably won't like this", a sentiment you havent exactly dismissed with you list of what makes SS3 "Special". Also all the love your give Serious Sam I find it extremely hard to believe u where never a big fan.

Its "retro" coz back when shooters first saw the light of day they (Quake, Doom, Hexen, DN3D, Wolfenstein, Shadow Warrior) where mindless - like Serious Sam. Retro is also simply a term I used, could just as easily have said Old-School or mindless like in many of the reviews.

DNF, Duke Nukem in general, is a mindless/old-school/retro shooter - it is the original mindless/old-school/retro shooter, Serious Sam was, and pretty much still is, a Duke Nukem Clone (Machoism, Monsters, 0 Plot, Cheesy one liners.) So its only natural that people will compare SS3 to DNF, a recent attempted revival of the mindless/old-school/retro shooter genre since they come from the same Genre. Your not going to compare SS3 to BF, COD, Halo since its not the same genre. Since there hasn't been any note worthy mindless/old-school/retro shooter of late, mostly coz the industry is trying to mature, people compare SS3 to the only thing there is- DNF. Its either that or Bulletstorm....

Geez this game is difficult on hard only using checkpoints and not save and reload in between them. Makes me want to play some painkiller again which is probably one of the best old school shooter out there...
