Signature sizes reminder

Stop asking about individual signatures you know if yours is too big given the new guidelines.

is just 4 pixel away from being DOUBLE the allowed size.

Saying that though I think 500x110 is generally the dimensions used for most places.

My signature is multi-levelled and, combined, is 19px higher than the stipulated limit.

It's necessary to ask because while it is multi-levelled, and it is larger than the stipulated limit, it's not ZOMG HUGE and in your face or outright annoying.

Also what "new" guidelines? These guidelines have been around for ages, they've just been unenforced.

Many of us have grown accustomed to it which is why it's necessary to ask on an individual basis whether or not our sigs are still acceptable.

I have no problem changing my sig: for the longest time it was just the XFire one, but if my sig is really an issue, I'd like to be told that rather than find myself removing it when it wouldn't have otherwise been a problem. If you understand?

Which, albeit multi-levelled, my sig conforms to :p

As I mentioned before; based on the response I'm receiving in this thread, I think I'm going to revise the signature sizes rules. 90 height seems a little restrictive in this day an age. We do want to prevent the forum from becoming a cluttered mess of people advertising their own gaming nickname though.

I'm thinking 600x130 should be more than enough for most of these things, or custom made sigs.

The multi-levelled text will also be strictly enforced. A single line with 200 characters should be enough to have links to your blogs and/or profiles, or a favourite quote.

I don't think it's necessary to have the threads hogged by text that no one is really interested in.

You're a special snowflake so it's cool, I was referring more to the "Here is by 900x500 sig, is it ok?" posts. :)

Aw, I'm still over the height limit by 2 pixels. Guess I'll have to look for another gamercard :(

Haha Matt, I was specifically looking at yours as well... For 2 pixels I might look the other way. Any other example of larger gamercards?

exophase, quite a few guys are using it, but its a combo card which contains 360, ps3 and steam info etc

Ugh, why do these auto-gamercard things have to keep outdoing one another...

Now we're hitting 155 pixels.

Where does it end?

Pardon my ignorance but when you are adding your signature are you not able to decrease the size of the signature manually with some "advance" code?

Currently in vBulletin you can't limit the size of images wrapped in tags. It's been a major feature request for years and yet...

The alternative is to force people to upload a signature. I think it would be better to reduce load on the MyGaming server to allow external sigs.

Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but the auto-gamer tags also auto-update, do they not?

I'mma just stick to mine - I'm using the smaller version of what's available - it's script generated and currently sitting at 135px in terms of height. Plus, as I've noted before, it doesn't contrast with the rest of the forum, so it's not quite as eye-grabbing :p

So are we good using the exophage sigs or should I change it?

I don't have an issue with them - it's actually the reason I started looking into it (someone had one before mine though). It's a lot less bulky than a separate xbox/ps3 sig.

anyway, the way it affects me is if your sig takes up more than 50% of your post allocation (iow more than your post + avatar/location/info stuff)
