Signature sizes reminder

Please keep your respective underwear on. i didn't make the sig, thus have no clue as to the size. My question was asked innocently and I will resize. Oh and please don't PM me to resize if you are not an admin.

Having said that, I agree some sigs are massive and could be resized and will defo try get mine sorted asap.

Well since nobody has come out and said it, I will. :)

I completely understand the problem with signatures. They add clutter and make things hard to read plus they are extra things that must be downloaded. However, I quite like them. :) There are some really nice looking ones. For instance DenSweeP's one looks pretty awesome and for me, big signatures and gaming sites go hand in hand.

On MyBB it's a different matter. There I even voted against using avatars since I browse that site at work and I'd like it to stay professional.

As for MyGaming, well here I want pictures and colours and all kinds of eye candy. Since I browse it at home to relax and to smile.

Look I enjoy sigs when they are reasonable, I find it's easier to identify and remember people from their sigs and avatars then JUST their nicks, so you can scroll down a thread and quickly pick up replies from the same person. However, when you start having to scroll through a 1000 lines of sigs to read 10 lines of discussion things have gotten out of hand.

James has kindly increased the allowed size to 600x130 which is a MORE than reasonable space to put in what you want. There really is no excuse to go over that limit.

You can use Gimp 2 to scale an image. It is pretty decent and if you decrease height it will scale the width accordingly so that the signature does not look weird. I do not mind scaling it for.

Nevermind, does not work too well with text. :p

Found out your sig size is 640 x 235 pixels using paint so needs to be downsized quite a bit, probably about 50% smaller or less.

Limit is 130 height, also if you did it smartly you could make your sig look almost the same.

Yeah, 130 looks a lot better than 90!

As I mentioned before; based on the response I'm receiving in this thread, I think I'm going to revise the signature sizes rules. 90 height seems a little restrictive in this day an age. We do want to prevent the forum from becoming a cluttered mess of people advertising their own gaming nickname though.

I'm thinking 600x130 should be more than enough for most of these things, or custom made sigs.

The multi-levelled text will also be strictly enforced. A single line with 200 characters should be enough to have links to your blogs and/or profiles, or a favourite quote.

I don't think it's necessary to have the threads hogged by text that no one is really interested in.

James pretty much indicated that 600x130 is fine (right?).

Haha, marginally better. Thanks for the leniency James!

Oh, and who was the ape that neg repped me on my post in the locked competitions threads? I really think that if you wanna rep someone, positive or negative, you should be forced to give your name.

Why? What purpose would that serve? "Oh no! You gave me negative rep so I'ma gonna give you negative rep every chance I get! /nerdrage?*

It's a silly little feature and really nothing to get worked up over.

^^ Mentioned it earlier ...... just ignore the cowards. It's the only time in their pathetic lives that they feel like a hero.

Woooah, talk about hyperbole.

Do you guys get this hysterical when someone -1/thumbs down/dislikes a comment of yours elsewhere too?

Talk about jumping off into the deep end of Loony Town.

You guys don't have bigger/more pressing concerns in reality that what someone says/does on a forum gets your knickers in a knot?

Jeez, if I went hysterical every time someone said something mean/disliked something I wrote or went ape at an argument of mine I'd be batshit.

Tarryn deals with negativity and trolling on a daily basis, imagine if she took it as personally

Hell, weren't you all asking for the karma system to be implemented only a year or so ago? Now you're unhappy because some people give you negative rep?

Let's see, I've been called a troll, a "fucking moron" and then some.

So what if you get the odd negative rep, it works out in the end after all.

P.S. Just saw someone gave me negative rep, probably for giving them negative rep earlier in this thread. This is my give-a-damn face: :D It's a silly feature, you take it on the chin and move on with your lives. Id est: NO BIG DEAL :)

I feel the rep system should be implemented in a way that you can only give, then take away what you gave. It's unfair that people often pick on new guys, sending their rep into the red, and then everyone thinks their opinion isn't worth rubbish. With a rep system that allows you to give a point to someone, and then take away only that point if you feel like it, it can't really be abused and we'd actually see members who make worthy contributions to the forum get the recognition they deserve, instead of good posters sitting with rubbish rep because some butthurt twat neg-reps him simply because he doesn't like him.

*edit* Didn't see newer posts

Um the rep system, yeah I've been on the wrong end of that one. I think the thumbs system works a LOT better, that way specific posts are given a rating that everyone can see so you can pick out those that are more useful.

While ideally the rep system is suppose to highlight people with meaningful contributions what actually seems to happen is that you get neg rep for just about any little thing and unless you're super popular or making an extremely outstanding post, no-one plus reps you.

I could have negative 100, it wouldn't bother me ...... the people who's views count that know me wouldn't use stupid rep as a marker. I have an issue with the double standards side of it. If there is a blowout because of anonymous people commenting, it's kinda silly to have another system that does the same thing in a way.

You'd think you would know me better by now .......
