SimCity 2013

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/13/simcity-review/ OMW that is the best title for a review ever :D

http://www.gameranx.com/features/id...ure-of-the-future-s-meaningless-game-reviews/ <- I really agree strongly with this. I place a lot of blame at the feet of the reviewers for missing stuff like the traffic issues and that sims don't actually have a specific home or a specific job. In a way I can still excuse them for not nailing the game on the DRM because when they were playing the servers were running as EA/Maxis had intended.

You realise that most of us here weren't aware of the traffic issues until it was pointed out to us by someone who actually sat down and looked at how it works, right? Some of our buildings didn't work properly, but most of us thought it was because we were doing something wrong. You can't blame reviewers for missing something that is not immediately apparent, even after hours of gameplay.

Good stuff, but I think the issue is a bit deeper than just traffic. I'm sure they will get to that though.

Yeah, if anything I hope that EA and Maxis keep this up and in a few months it might actually also be a very good game. Much like D3 which was nowhere near ready on launch day.

Did you use the solar panels yet pooky dam they are great I shut down my coal powerplant and still have enough power 100mw extra.

Dont think I will ever buy a game with DRM ever again.
I have had the game installed and "ready to play" for more than a week now and I have only been able to play for about 2 hours.
That is not ever 2 hours in a row. T_T

Awesome game broken by a system that makes no sense.

How so? I've had no issues playing the game since Sunday.

It keeps losing my city thanks to the Origin just dropping or logging me out for some add reason.
And inviting someone to s region keeps messing up. I will give it a go again next week but to be honest I am over it. Its just another single player game that has been destroyed by social networking and DRM.

Yep, it's truly a shame that the game was released in its current state. The same with Diablo III, if D3 v1.05 launched on the 15th of May the public opinion about the game would not have been nearly as bad as it is now. It's very difficult, or even impossible to recover from a launch like this.

Then it's an issue with your connection because I haven't had issues with the game losing my city all week.

You say you've only played 2 hours since getting it? I've clocked in 18 hours since last 3-5 of which might have had connectivity issues.

I can confirm that its not a connection issue on my side. While I was waiting for sh@ttycity to work, steam never lost connection on my other system and I was happily playing other games online. Like I said I will wait till next week. If I still have the same problem I will just go back to ME3 MP if I want to play something on Origin. That at least works.

I'm also having no connection problems.

Or at least I had problems yesterday, kept saying I lost connection when I know that I didn't...but I know for a fact that's 8ta's fault, not the game. I'm frequently unable to browse while steam still works fine, I blame 8ta for this.

Hey everyone.

Are there still any open slots on any of the regions? As in the regions where all you ouens play.

Yes, there are still some places left. Add me as a friend (NebulaProphet) and join me in __________ (can't remember the name of the region, but it's not Afritopia)

Reading through http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/simcity-update-8 I can't help but think that these issues should have been addressed during the development of the game. Did nobody at Maxis/EA think that it might be a good idea for emergency vehicles to bypass other vehicles in a traffic jam? Did nobody think that it would make sense for them to respond to separate events?

And as for the long list of stuff on sims that are not persistent. That wouldn't have been so bad if EA and Maxis did not claim that this was such an amazing simulation...
