Skyrim Thread

No need, I've placed him on my ignore list. I don't have need to read posts by people who go out of their way to complain about ridiculous stuff, then when called out on it resort to childish logic simply because they don't really any valid reasons for the complaint.

I want to read about Skyrim in this thread, but all I read is "moan, moan, moan". :D

Amen.

I haven't played Skyrim since late December. Not because I don't like the game, but because I have work and studies to do...and this thing takes your soul for a while. Having said that, I just bought Mass Effect 3...

I have the seem thing now in Skyrim that I had in Oblivion.=

So I completed Skyrim, but I took my time, did a lot of sidequests, lots of exploring etc. Completed the game with over 100hours of play logged on steam and finished all the steam achievements available for the game.I then proceeded to mod the k@k out of it. My game now looks fantastic; Super HD texture overhauls, weather overhauls, Gameplay overhauls etc. I decided that I will be playing Skyrim like Morrowind. Meaning no Fast travel (disabled by mod) and absolutely no map markers. The only way you can travel around is by Carts located in the big towns / cities. This does indeed help alot specially for immersion as you don't just click away on quick travel icons to get to quest locations, you actually have to run or ride to the said destination, or use a cart to the nearest town.

I'm also using the Warzones Civil Unrest and Wars in Skyrim mods which adds HUGE random battles and encounters with heroes and villains to spice things up a bit. But now, not even 2 hours into my new character, uber modded game and real exploring I've grown bored. Even with the new random encounters and the harder enemies and general gameplay it feels like the entire experience just got stale VERY quickly. At first I thought it would be overmodding, but alas this is not the case. It's just as if no amount of mods can spice things up to warrant spending any more time in the world than it initially did completing the main quest and some random exploring.

Even if these mods include copious amounts of new NPCs, encounters, travellers on roads, civilians and other creatures, it's just so Bleh. Maybe if I do what I did with Morrowind and leave the game for 6 months to a year and then start afresh I dunno.

Or Bethesda could catch a wakeup and start giving us REAL DYNAMIC and living worlds.

I'm confused, you played the game for over 100 hours and now you're angry because it got stale.

Man Bethesda why you make such crap games, 500hours or gtfo.

IMHO there is such a thing as a too long game. I think 100 hours is probably the ceiling on a single Playthrough. I spent 90 odd hours in Skyrim and it started to drag by the end, the same with Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Oblivion. I spent 50 hours on 3 Playthroughs of Mass Effect 2 and 50 hours on a single playthrough of Mass Effect 3. I spent 133 hours on 3 playthrough of Demon's Souls. Once you spent so many hours in a game the edges will start to show, this is a simulated reality after all and there is only so much that can be put into it to keep it "real". I also think it depends on the genre, a COD that last 50 hours would probably induce suicide similarly a RPG thats over in 6 hours would induce copious amounts of Nerd Rage.

Of course there is such a thing as a game being too long, that's not what Maplassie is complaining about, he's complaining that the game is starting to get old for him after 100 hours and on his second play through, hence saying he wants the experience to last longer.

I would consider R3.50 an hour pretty damn good value.

I spent roughly 118 Hours on Skyrim and I loved every bit of it...That being said..I don't think I'll play it again...as in ever, not because its a bad game...Just because I have pretty much done any and everything there is to do, and another play through would be incredibly boring as its still the same game. This is where Witcher 2 holds the crown..Every play through is different, you're actions have a direct impact on the game and it feels like a different game depending on the choices you make.

lol. Never said "angry". I'm Talking Replay value. Such a huge sandbox world and so much to do, yet it becomes boring much quicker than it should for it's size and it's content.

P.S 501hours or gtfo. 500 hours is too short :D

Im keen to see this when Witcher 2 hits for Xbox next month.

See that's exactly my point. Morrowind for example only got boring after about the 5th or 6th restart, cause every single time you played it, something different happened, you uncovered a new quest line, a new treasure hunt, hidden cities and locations etc. Skyrim has much less of that, but it fools you into thinking it has more of everything.
Skyrim is NOT a bad game, it is a GREAT game, I just think they could have done more in the replay value department.

I agree with Maplassie. I felt this way about both Skyrim and Oblivion. You actually reached a point where you've done everything there is to do, and then replayablility jumps out the window.

I've restarted Morrowind 7 times, and I'm still finding new content all over the place. :D

And on top of that, I don't even own any of Morrowind's expansion packs yet.

THIS ^^ +999999

I reinstalled Morrowind during my leave in December and just fooled around a bit. I found a couple of things that made me go "Oo, HOW COULD I NEVER HAVE SEEN THIS?"

Graal you should really get the Tribunal Expansion if you are keen to revisit Morrowind, it's definitely worth it.

I don't think you need replayability if your first playthrough can last you 100+ hours. Personally I just don't have the time to spend those many hours so these huge playtimes don't really hold much appeal to me, give me a quality experience and I'll be happy. :)

I'm just waiting for the Morrowind GotY to go on sale again, then I'm snatching it.

I'm also finally going to download the Morrowind overhaul, as they finally have a torrent for it. My ISP shapes http traffic, so the files were downloading at a max of 12kb/s using direct download.

It's basically a whole graphics overhaul for Morrowind that makes it look almost like Oblivion, and in some places it even surpasses Oblivion.

Seems like Skyrim is becoming yesterday's news. I haven't played it in about 3 weeks. As soon as I got all the achievements it wasn't even worth playing it.

Its seems those that go after the achievements just don't play the game anymore. Started my 2de playtrough the other day and must say there are loads of things I did not see in the first playtrough. I wish just that quest would also be diffrent depending on your race.

Unless your maplassie :p

One thing that really annoys me about skyrim patches. They NEVER include a changelog.

What was this 17mb patch that just downloaded?

Wondering the exact same thing here. It's ridiculous.

Although I suspect it might just be the .exe, seeing as the .exe is around that size. Might just have been something like the RAM update.

edit: And now it's downloading another update of the same size.
