A lot of other games require a pass to play online so I don't mind if Sony does the same. I buy most of my games new anyway.

I don't think MS will follow on these grounds...they already charge for Gold Membership, they might add a very small fee but that is about that.

MS won't do it on grounds that Xbox Live gold is already a paid for service. Sony is just noticing now that maintaining a multiplayer infrastructure free of charge doesn't work.
