Unless its really bad I wouldn't worry.So... Get another speaker system, then?
Thanks for your input.
I tried my onboard on my msi z97 gaming 5 with audio boost enabled and disabled and it doesn't come close to my sound blaster z but I must admit I'm rocking Sennheiser HD598's so yeah maybe on lower end headphones it will sound the same but I will still say get dedicated sound. I think for music and non hd movies onboard is ok but for gaming with virtual surround dedicated sound card is better
I am pretty terrible when it comes to motherboard knowledge, But i have also been thinking about a separate Sound Card, I'm just not sure how good my on board can be, I haven't been able to get my surround sound to work properly yet either, this is my motherboard:

Audio - "High quality 108dB SNR HD audio"
Anyone know how good the on board sound is ? Sorry for the Noobish questions, but never really been clued up on motherboard specs
