We have reached the installation of Splinter Cell: Conviction.

It has been a long journey from Double Agent........ especially today, since I had to travel from work to the BT Games in Menlyn and then to a pub called Shovels to watch the Stormers vs Some Kiwi team I can't remember and then to a club above Billy the Bums (don't ask) but finally after 10 droughts of Black Label I am beginning the Conviction installation on my PC........................

After clicking "Next" a couple of times and then finally clicking "Finish" the installation has begun.................

Sam Fisher's face is grimaced........ he's holding a gun to a fellow Splinter Cell agent.............

Initial experience has been a good one. I'm not playing the game as it should be tho, lots of Rambo style rush in and kill everything moves instead of sneaky sneaky moves and I barely use my equipment. The tag and execute thingy is quite cool, but again I'm not using it properly. I'm playing on Realistic difficulty which is quite challenging. The story is progressing as I would like and I'm finding it captivating.

Unfortunately the Ubisoft program (hence forth to be known as the bastard child of Martha Stewart and Satan) that needs to run in the background has completely and utterly ruined the game for me. For some reason the bastard child of Martha Stewart and Satan loses connection constantly. More than likely due to an overload of the bastard child of Martha Stewart and Satan servers in Ubisoft land (hence forth to be known as DumbF$%K Retard Land).

I believe I'm about half way through the game so far, but I'm taking a break. If I don't take a break now the bastard child of Martha Stewart and Satan is gonna piss me off to the point where I'll shove my keyboard through my 24" LCD....... and I don't think the guys down at DumbF$%K Retard Land will pay for a new LCD for me.

@ Toxin

When u wake up,do u get DX10 with splinter cell conviction?

:)

Well, it downloads something from Direct X after the game installs what exactly it is I have no idea. I don't even know if I'm running the game in DX10 at the moment. Nor do I care really. The game runs and looks great even on my 8800Ultra.

Lol Tox - nice one :p
Was holding this in my hand this morning and decided not to get it based on the DRM - how much does the DRM actually hamper gameplay? I mean I have
'always on' internet anyway, and the installation looks to be a bitch but once in game? Any noticeable BS going down like disconnects, save game problems?

Captains log Star Date........ nah fuck it, can't be bothered.

Finished the game. Awesome story. Started getting into the sneaky sneaky feeling again and managed some pretty cool moves. :)

Playing on realistic difficulty is biaaaatch!!! I'll definitely be playing it again on a lower setting cause there are so many different ways of tackling your objectives. I wont be playing it any time soon tho because of the DRM. It was a complete nightmare for me.

I didn't have any save game problems. My issue was with connectivity to the Ubisoft servers. If, for some reason, the connection drops the game pauses and a message block appears saying that the game is attempting to reconnect with the server. In my case, it for some reason loses connection 5-10 times every minute, but only for a fraction of a second. So the box will show up and just as quickly disappear. If it did it once every 10 minuites or so it wouldn't so much of a problem but in some sections of the game it made it practically unplayable.

But now that I have been investigating it, it seems that it might be my internet connection. My internet feels sluggish and throttled. Youtube videos take forever to load and I can't even connect to the Ubisoft forums.

I'll be upgrading my connection in a month or so and will be switching to a different ISP, so that might fix my problems. I'd like to know if anyone else has the same kind of experience.

Solution to Toxin's dilema... get it on Xbox.
Step 1: Buy Game
Step 2: Go Home
Step 3: Put disk in Xbox
Step 4: Play Game
Step 5: Love it.
The End.

Bought the game on friday, installed it on Saturday morning. Spent 30 minutes trying to get it to work, got pissed off, cracked it. GG Ubisoft.
