Star Wars Battlefront - PC

Having recently been burned by BF Hardline, which is a great game or at least I enjoy it, sadly there are just no players on the pc all the servers are empty. I want to know, Battlefront who is in?

Is this something SA PC players are going to pick up and play long term? I tried going back to BF4 but I need something new.

Is the hype real?

My beta download finished this morning. If it's good and the final reviews aren't horrible I might consider picking it up.

hopefully it'll be done downloading when I get home. I just hope the finished game is good enough to keep people on the servers for a long long time. - Just pls, pls Battlefront don't be the other white elephant on my Origin page.

I played a few rounds, I used the console commands to open network graph, it seemed to be connecting me to EU servers.
Graphics are good and it ran very well on my PC (R9 280x). The 'hoth' 40 man map felt really empty even with 40 players.
I am not wowed at the moment.

A buddy and i played a few rounds of walker assault and i have to say the map was pretty active. Unfortunately connecting to non-local servers was a big negative for me as i kept getting destroyed when i clearly had the upper hand. Other than that i enjoyed myself but i think it is mostly due to the fact that everything is new and shiny for the moment.

Enjoying the beta so far. Dropships was fun, died a lot until I unlocked another gun and nades. It looks amazing and runs well on my Nvidia 770.
Got a nice 21/7 k/d on the Hoth map, got some nice sniping in too. Running around between AT-ST's legs was fun you feel like an invading army. Didn't get to be Luke or Darth though.

I don't know what servers ended up on, I noticed a little rubber banding but not very often.
I enjoyed not having a browser to launch from and as long as I can play on SA servers I will be happy.

I dunno how I felt about 3rd person view I would rather run 1st but 3rd gives u major advantage in spotting guys. But u do end up shooting at rocks rather than over them.

Live Battlefront Live! I need a BF4 substitute.

Is it running DX12?

So there seems to be a few threads hanging in the air for Star Wars, so I thought lets create on thread to rule them all

I played about 2 hours of the Beta on Xbox One, and so far I'm really enjoying the game. Here are some of my thoughts:

Graphically the game is stunning!! It runs really well, and the detail in the game is mesmerizing. As a huge Star Wars fan, I got a little excited seeing and fighting along side AT-AT Walkers, AT-ST's, Y-Wing, A-Wing, Tie Fighters and Darth Vader, all rendered to look perfectly.

Gameplay is on point for a Beta. The game really drops you into the thick of things and let's you figure out things on the fly, but luckily the controls were smooth and easy to master. 2 rounds in and I was no longer a liability for my team. The current multiplayer maps are either 16 players or 40 players, with various objectives for each map. It seems that the specific map will determine the objective to be done, with Hoth being an AT-AT attach, and Tatooine being drop-ship. Both equally fun in their own way.

The single player consists of a wave based Survival type map on Tatooine, which is rather fun. You get some drops and power-ups on the map to use, and battling a AT-ST on your own is quite difficult. The Single player modes are available to be done co-cooperatively as well, which is what I would except is the better way of doing them

Multiplayer also didn't show any real lag even though I played on EU servers.

For the full game though, the Beta is showing what is not available, and currently there seems to be 7 multiplayer maps, and about 5 single player maps over 2 various modes. I have a feeling that that is just not enough though. But time will tell. So far I'm really enjoying the Beta, and will play many more hours this weekend.

I was running along in a trench when an AT-AT Walker stomped in front of me blocking my path I had to wait for it to move.
Gunning from AT-AT take some practice but you feel super powerful.
Then I got to pilot my own AT-ST and was able to break up an enemy entrenchment.

Didn't get to plays as defenders on that map, do you pilot the y-wings or just call them in on a position or are you the gunner on a set path?

On that map for the Rebels, you get to pilot the A-Wings that you get as pick-ups, same as the Tie Fighters of the AT-ST's. Rebels have a bit less in terms of heavy weaponry to assist in the defense, and the 3 times I played defense our team didn't win. It's a bit too easy for the Empire to dominate that map I feal, or maybe I just had a shit team.

On the latency issue, I think due to the fact that I am playing on Xbox live servers, the issue is a bit better. I've found that Xbox multiplayer performs a bit better than PC multiplayer connecting to international servers. I'm guessing here, because I honestly didn't struggle with latency at all

Interesting to know since I am considering getting console and was worried about how multiplayer would hold up.
Anyway I am assuming SA will get servers for the full game.

No idea whether or not we'll get local servers. Hopefully we do get them, as this game is pretty much multiplayer only and would suck to play with high latency. I also would guess that when the game launches there will be more pressure on the servers which will make it more difficult, but we'll have to wait and see
