Star Wars Battlefront - Official Thread

No idea whether or not we'll get local servers. Hopefully we do get them, as this game is pretty much multiplayer only and would suck to play with high latency. I also would guess that when the game launches there will be more pressure on the servers which will make it more difficult, but we'll have to wait and see

Usually Mweb are on the ball with gameservers.com so we should have local servers hopefully. I am very reluctant to buy this game based on some of the reviews i have read and how close SC2 expansion is. Will wait it out and see what the general SA consensus is after about a month.

I had also seen some less than positive reviews and so I nearly missed out on the beta I thought I would wait and see how it was received after it comes out. My view of the game is mostly positive but we will find out if there is enough body and depth to the game to keep people playing. It also depends how well the new movie is received, after it comes out I see lots of people picking up the game.
Now what to play in the mean time. If I pick up MGS, I'll probably not pick up Battlefront for a while.
Hopefully Batman DLC will come out when the games re-launched but that's only at the end of the month too.
Now what can I fill the time after the beta with.

The problem with Battlefront is 2 fold for me. One; it's releasing after games like Halo 5, COD BLOPS 3 and Fallout 4, all games that will sell really well, so there will be much less money available when Star Wars finally hits the self. Second; I feel there is just not gonna be enough content to justify full price admission. Maybe later on yes, but will people still be playing it then, I don't know. For now, I'll keep my pre-order, but just because I am a blindingly huge fan of Star Wars. Personally, so far I've really enjoyed the Beta and haven't really read any other reviews yet. I don't care really what people say, as I am enjoying myself, which is much more important than some guy on the internet's opinion.

Thanks for linking the article. Some good tips, and I found out a bit too late that aiming down the sights are just as good as just point and shoot. Once I unlocked the DH7T rapid fire blaster I just skipped aiming down the sights all together

ya ADS is engrained in me from BF3/4 and BH. I am going to have to try break that habit now.

Try playing in 3rd person, now THAT is a head spinner for the first few minutes. Played it but didn't really get the hang of it. I'll give it a try again for the benefit of the increased FOV though.

Also thermal bombs sounds and looks SO AWESOME!!!

It kept crashing for me on startup. I'll try updating my gfx drivers when I get home.

I had seen some youtube vids , so first thing I did was find out how to go 3rd person, the thing is with other games like BF3 and 4 the bullet originates from your head and not your gun (or though they have lowered that point in the subsequent updates). With Battlefront the bullets (? beams) seem to come out your gun. And with 3rd person if you behind a rock you think you aiming at a person but you shooting in to the rock. So it defiantly takes a bit of adjustment, but at least this means you not going to get people head-glitching in this game.

Lol, well I created this thread as a one stop thread for all discussion, hence "Official thread". The other one is for PC and I play it on Xbox so can't really comment there.

Hehe no I agree, this is definitely the official one. Strangely enough I'm not that keen for the game. I've never been all that fond of Star Wars (heresy!) and I'll wait for reviews. If the reviews are exceptional then I'll think of getting it. :)

with the way Microsoft are going Xbox is basically PC now.

Sigh! Sitting at work when I could be playing some Battlefront now. Need to be levelling up...

I discovered that aiming down the sites doesnt help at all after one match. Did a quick test in game, fired at a target both ways, saw now real difference and scored better.

Also, aim assist on console? *pfffffffffft*

well according to the movies nobody aims down sight and there's no point aiming when a jedi's just going to smack ur laser blasts away.

I do like not having ammo but the cool down is a pain when you overheat your gun if you not paying attention.

Yeah, not sure which you have, but I remember seeing an update available in my system tray for nVidia cards yesterday or the day before. I havent updated but might help some people.

The male announcer sounds like the guy from Enemy Territory Quake Wars....and damn the game is fast....I think thats one reason why I like it, reminds me of old school Quake, Unreal, Doom, etc, nice and fast.

Now it keeps telling me I need to be signed into my EA account. I click connect and nothing happens. Useless.
