Congratulations!
You have successfully redeemed the following code: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

You are now registered for the following items:
STAR WARS(TM): The Old Republic(TM) Collector’s Edition Pre-Order

WOOHOO!

I am so ridiculously stoked for this game :D

All the list that gamespy explains is which countries can preorder.

Not really. It mentions that anyone outside of certain zones (specifically NA and Europe) will not have access to the game at launch. It also speaks of a limit to players even for the applicable regions. This all is supposedly found on some small print on a "pre-order launch announcement". To top it all off they cannot commit to a time frame when other regions may join in (A week? A month? Several months?).

This is from Bioware's mouth. But hell, this all might change in a heartbeat. Just thought all you may be, well, interested.

This is the reply that quite a few posters on the swkotor.com forums have been getting:

Hi

I have pre-ordered from Amazon as i live in New Zealand. I have a pre-order
code and that shows on my account and in Origin. I want to know that i will
be able to play in the initial launch period from New Zealand with my NA
guild even though pre-orders are not available from local suppliers without
resorting to a VPN tunnel due to the possibility of IP blocking.

Thanks

Actually if you read the preorder faq you will notice the section about the specific countries only mentions purchase, there is no mention of access being restricted:

In fact this is mentioned in that same section:

I live in North America but my friend lives in Europe. Will we be able to play together on the same server?

Yes, it will be possible to play on the same server as your friends. Any player of Star Wars: The Old Republic can choose to play on any server. However, if you choose to play on a server outside of your own region (i.e., – playing on European servers from North America, and vice versa), because of natural latency caused by the distance between your client and the game servers, you may find your game performance is impacted.

I have been able to redeem my code at swkotor.com and link it to my origin account and my origin account is clearly a SA one.

We will see what is truth , one thing is sure shit is going to hit the fan even worse then it is currently if they using ip blocks.

PS. BW/EA/Lucas Arts don't know which states make up the US, users in Puerto Rico are being denied access to buy the game as well. Blizzard must be having an absolute laught at EA's handling of this.;)

An update on this from Stephen Reid the SWKOTOR community manager, his twitter nick is @Rockjaw:

Rockjaw On region locking: right now things are unchanged, anyone can play #SWTOR from anywhere in the world on any server, but latency may affect.

Further on region locking - no answer on CCs for subs yet but hope to have one by Monday/Tuesday.

How will we get early access anyway, will we have to download the game or will they send it to us a week early?

Well, I am going to wait and see (unless I need to review it).

Honestly, I am SO sick of jumping through barbed-serrated-fiery-electrified hoops of death to get access many MMOs at release. Seriously! So few of them seem to be smooth as far as account / credit cards are concerned. I can fully understand server / patch / game stability, but it regularly requires so much effort to create a functioning account let along get in-game.

Anyways, I am the pessimist. But keep us informed Stefan. Any info is good info in my books!

Will keep you guys updated. Stephen Reid has in the past few hours repeated there will be no IP blocking. Still have to wait a few days for info concerning whether there will be issues concerning cc's from the so called red zone countries.

You will download it. They will send you the link via email. It will be an idependent download not via origin.

Eish, you do know the beta client is already 30gb+ right? Probably take me those 6 days just to download it.
