StarCraft II SA pricing

kak en betaal is die wet van transvaal :D.... brings my back to my question, what is a reasonable price for a game taking into account time, marketing, development and resources spent.

I think R450 is reasonable, if the game offers decent longevity. In this case, I think the price is fair given that the SP will prbly be around 20-25 hours, and then the multiplayer will likely be played for years.

As I've asked in the comment section; How is it that MegaRom are the ONLY people in the world with confirmed prices?

So basicly were gonna pay R1500 for the full game. It's gonna be releaced in 3 stages remeber. (If thats whats still happening?)

It's worth paying R450 for a game that will provide you with such longevity (mp features), but with 2 expansions announced, this may easily trump R1400, which is quite steep. Lets hope for the best.

I agree. If you are a fan it is not so bad.

so R450 per title then the consensus.... master tinman we should do a poll on this :)

im ok with paying up too R150 for indie.

like i said in the comments section

bargain binning this. bugger that insane pricing. moer toe met daai blerrie idee

I agree

This is extortion.
Just because it is a highly anticipated game they can just load the price and you will get people that will buy the game just because it is SC (no matter the cost)... Exactly the same happened with MW2.
So just becqause the people want to play it they will fork out up to R1k for a few hours (hopefully) worth of entertainment and Bliz will be laughing to the bank all the way.

But i didnt support MW2, and i wont support SC2 with this line of thinking - also with all the issues around the game (no lan, etc.)

Besides, this is for only ONE (1) campaign. So of course they will load the price for the other 2 campaigns as well, costing you more than R1k at the end.

so, pick a finger Bliz - wait, here take this one! .|..

Ok compare SC1 to SC2 for a moment, In SC1+Broodwar there was roughly 6 campaigns with 10 missions in each equivaling to about 60 missions, Now take SC2 1 Campaign = 20-25 missions. When all three come out thats roughly 75 missions. This now excludes any plans for any proper expansions. So if true expansions come out you looking at about 150 missions!

The official number 26-30 missions in total per game. Not to mention that the campaign will be far more complex than it was in SC1. So 1 'part' will still bring you 20 hours of fun.

As I mentioned on MyADSL; If I had to compare it to movies, think; LOTR. Would LOTR's be as epic as it was if it was crammed into 2.5 hours? I doubt it.

I think the "its only the first of three games" argument is redundant TBH.

If the first game was going to offer an 11 mission campaign, then you would have a point. However, the Teran campaign alone is going to be about the same length as all three campaigns combined in the first game. I for one love this idea, and I think we really are going to get a deep, rich and engaging single player experience with massive scope.

Also remember, you will get a fully functional MP game with the first release, in which you will be able to play as all three races.

And finally, I refer to my argument in the comments section "Also, remember that the price of PC games has been almost immune to the effects of inflation over the years. I remember around 12 years ago paying R300 for PC games. At the same time a movie ticket was around R18 if memory serves me correctly.

A movie ticket is now between R40-R50, thats more than double what they cost 12 years ago. In the same period, the price of PC games has only increased by around 30% in most instances."
