I am gatvol of small wireless service providers with small amounts of staff not being able to handle inquiries and support. Telkom is not the best by any means at all. Their new LTE package is well priced though. So would like to see what the signal strength is like. Putting ADSL into a complex is just such a hassle, otherwise I would've done that
Well, you'll be gatvol of a large mobile provider with small amounts of staff that are technically incapable of handling inquiries and support. I've had to deal with Telkom 3G/LTE for over 5 years when I was living in Gauteng and I can tell you that 3G speed for them means about 3 mbps and LTE speed is "acceptable" if it is over 10 mbps.
Issues I have had with Telkom/8ta 3G/LTE :
- When it rains the signal degrades to absolute shit, and IF you eventually get the technician to come out and do a signal test they will tell you that it's condensation/water/some other water based lie or excuse at the tower
- If the wind blows in a certain way your signal goes to shit
- If there are trees anywhere in the cell area they'll use that as an excuse for poor signal
- If there are buildings in the cell area they'll use that as an excuse for poor signal
- If there are power lines in the are they'll use that as an excuse for poor signal
- If the tower gets struck by lightning they can take up to a month to repair it
- If you're even SLIGHTLY outside of the coverage area map they won't even attempt to assist you
- They will admit that even though you are inside the coverage map you are still not guaranteed service as the coverage map is only an indication of coverage and cannot be used to determine if you will actually have signal
