Telkom set to upgrade ADSL speeds

think the 384 will be around for a looooooong time! Unfortunately!!!!!

Maybe people sould move away from the 384 package, but then again maybe people cant afford the higher speeds... I am sure if telkom gets a higher percentage of people on the higher packages they would be forced to upgrade thier networks accordingly to handle the added pressure... However way thing are currently running they tell you you cant support the the line you want and recommend the 384KB line. Idiots.

I am one of those people.
I NEED uncapped. No choice. I work from home, and capped internet means no work, means no money.

I can afford a MAXIMUM of R500 per month all-inclusive for my internet.
384k Line + Telephone + ISP = R512 per month. (I stretched the R12 by pawning myself on the corner once per month...)

I understand, thats why telkom need to make some value proposition maybe drop the phone line rental, and let the the dsl line rental the cost of owning the line instead of the double payment we are currently making for the same copper that was already attached to our homes.

Well we are moving in the right direction (however slowly), apparently Telkom are going to allow DSL lines without the compulsory phone line around November this year. I mean with uncapped accounts becoming very affordable and getting better all the time, we are getting there.

Also heard that aswell as rumour of increase in DSL line rental (which i would be bad).

I dont understand how Telkom can actually provide the service they do, the prices the offer and the products that they do and still get away with it. I am sharing a 384kb (Telkom) and an uncapped account (Mweb) with my landlady and the other tenant so that we have Internet since Telkom insists that you have to have a voice line to get a dsl line. Its daylight robbery and there is no-one to complain to... And they dont even want to upgrade the 384kb line... Hopeless...

I'm currently on the 384k Uncapped from Wazzup for R305 pm.
It's not bad at all.
Yesterday I got a message that I exceeded their average for that package and my speed will be limited from now.
Thats not fair is it?
I'm paying for that tiny 40kb/s, now I'm getting 10kb/s

because they have the monopoly?

How do you think telkom can make mistakes that cost (unsure of facts) up to R5billion, and treat it like water off of a ducks back. Here is an article: http://www.hellkom.co.za/news/local/7667-Costly-Nigerian-mistake-batters-Telkom.htm

Take your business elsewhere bud. I was on Afrihost and they tried the same thing with me, moved to Mweb uncapped and have no complaints so far.

My line got upped from 512 to a meg at the beginning of May, i thought it was n mistake on helkoms side :p
Glad its permanent! D/l at 100kb a sec is a welcome change!

Got my 1mb on friday and so far its brilliant. Only issue is that sometimes the line drops down to a crawl, restart router and a couple minutes late chugging along at 100kb.

I <3 my 10mb + uncapped... able to do a little over 1.5 TB p/m, I suppose working at an ISP does help a little bit. :D

seVer, can't you give your fellow Mygamers a special deal?
If I change to your company, will you organize a decent discount at least?
