The 10 most dissapointing games of the last year

I find polls that try to gage or quantify disappointment don't really produce anything worthwhile.

In order to be disappointed you needed to have expected more than what you received. So if you expected a game to get 50 yet it got 45 is that more or less disappointing than expecting a game to get 90 and only get 80. It's really kind of a useless measure and tells you very little. Then you also have to look into what causes you to expect a certain quality from a game, is it because it's a sequel of a great game, is it because there is a lot of hype surrounding it or it's HUGE development time. :)

Only games that have recently disappointed me are Brink and Dragon Age 2. Doesn't mean they are bad games, just means I thought they could have been better. I had no expectation for Duke and I really didn't care if it ever got released so I can't call it a disappointment.

This list is wack. I can agree about Brink and Duke Nukem Forever. But Dead Space 2?? And I think RDR: Undead Nightmare was awesome DLC. Also, I kinda enjoyed L.A. Noire. Despite what some people said, I found it to be a breath of fresh air. Still enjoying Killzone 3 too even though it lacks in some places where Killzone 2 was strong.

I did, several times. I knew Crysis 2 wasn't going to be like the first one. It was still a very enjoyable shooter albeit way more limited in scope.

Crysis was infinitely better than Crysis 2. Period. Crysis 2 was just a generic shooter with MP tacked on.

Percentages cited in the article indicate voter percentages, not review percentages. I'm not sure why this isn't obvious - the context is a user poll report, not review scores.

These farmvillers who voted ?

:EDIT
According to new research from a games comparison and marketplace website, ‘Duke Nukem Forever’ has been voted as the ‘most disappointing video game release’ of the past 12 months; beating ‘Dragon Age II’ to the top spot.

It appears that whilst Duke Nukem Forever didn’t set reviewers’ worlds alight, it also failed to impress gamers themselves; with video game fans voting it as the number one ‘most disappointing games release’ of the past 12 months.

The study was conducted by gaming marketplace www.Playr2.com, in order to find out gamers’ opinions towards this year’s video game releases. 1, 671 self confessed gamers took part.
Those taking part in the study were asked, “Which video game releases of the past 12 months were you disappointed by (if any)? Respondents were able to choose multiple games dependent on which titles they felt most disappointed by.

According to the results, the top 10 ‘most disappointing’ video game releases of the past 12 months were as follows:

1) Duke Nukem Forever – 41% (of respondents chose Duke Nukem Forever as one of the last year’s video gaming disappointments)
2) Dragon Age II – 39%
3) Crysis II – 36%
4) LA Noire – 34%
5) Brink – 32%
6) Killzone 3 – 30%
7) Dead Space II – 27%
8) Need for Speed: Shift 2 – 24% 9) Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare- 21%
10) Marvel vs. Capcom 3- Fate of Two Worlds- 18%

Simon Kilby, Founder of Playr2.com, commented on the findings:

“With so many titles released every year, we wanted to look into which had been a hit with gaming fans; and which had failed to impress. Given all the bad reviews that surrounded the release of Duke Nukem Forever, it wasn’t surprising to see it clinch the top spot as the most disappointing game for the past 12 months. I think fans and reviewers alike felt let down by the storyline and graphics, with it failing to impress many.”

He continued:

“Many game titles have a lot to live up to, particularly if their predecessors have been a hit. Nevertheless, games are continuing to evolve in terms of graphic and features; so expectations are getting higher and higher all the time.”

Playr2.com allows users to compare prices on their favourite games, as well as allowing them to buy, sell and swap their games with other members on the site.
Playr2.com was launched in June 2011.

Only users that actually use Playr2.com not really "The 10 most disappointing games of the last year are..." taking in account that that is only tiny bit of the total gaming population. Any tosser imho who vote Dead Space2 was kak can't enjoy the gerne for what it was and how well Dead Space2 was actually done going by what they tried to do with for example a dedicated lighting team.

::EDIT
Yeah don't agree with this list, why not use metacritic? Dead space 2? wtf it's one of my favourite games of this year. Though i might just have a kak opinion on games.

DS2 sits on no 7 of best reviewed game on meta... here is their link for best and worst of 2010

Brink and Homefront were the two biggest dissappointments this year for me. Really had high hopes for them. Duke on the other hand was what I expected it to be.

I actually thought Duke Nukem Forever would have been the biggest thing pretty much since sliced bread and was really shocked when I started finding out the turnout when the reviews started rolling out.

Dragon age 2 was kinda terrible. And duke was so bad. Brink looked dodgey when it came out.

I was never that excited for Duke even though I played the first one millions of times back in the day. It was almost like I expected it to fail. I still haven't played it after hearing how bad it is. Most disappointing has to be Dragon Age 2. How do you go from such an amazing epic game to some cheap shit. God that game makes me so angry even though I was addicted to it.

Maybe, but when it comes to sampling theory, a group over 1000 (and this one was 1600-something) is generally considered more than adequately representative of the market. That's just how it works.

So of I go ask 1600 people if they like billtong over at buddist temple would it then also be an adequately representative of the market ?

That site like around from June 2011, not even 2 months. I wouldn't really take anything pre-june 2011 too serious over there. For all I know for example it was twilight fans who voted nay on deadspace 2 or people who only play rts that didn't like crysis 2.

Imho rather be more correct and logical to use a site like metacritic that's been around and somewhat more trusted than just some random popup.

How about running a real polling over at mygaming and mybroadband to vote for most kak games of previous year? Lets then compare that to the "most crap" games from that site's results...
