it has nothing to do with me being a Sharks fan ... he's the most successful captain we've had .... if he was so useless, why would coaches stick with his leadership?

john is a good captain, but there are better in-form players for his position(s). seeing as there are no better captains around, he should stay (maybe he should lose a few kgs) in the starting 15 - as leadership is very important.

waynand olivier only looks good when his team is on the front foot and winning, but as soon as there is a bit of presure, he folds - much like most of our wings ie pieterson and co

What some people don't realise is that John was told to bulk up when he came back from France ...... he did and now people say he's fat and slow when it's muscle, lol

I wouldn't say he is useless.... Don't go to the other end of the scale and imply meanings to fit your goal. I said nowhere he is useless.
More people would notice if he was useless, and then they would say something.
I am saying there are better players, and captains, than him.
The team wins games, not the captain. His record would not be good at all if the players in the team sucked. So, he was fortunate to have very good players in his teams through his captaincy.

The way I see it... He does enough to get by unnoticed, the rest of the forwards can carry him through this... it's one of the benefits playing in a team game, especially where you can be carried / assisted by 7 others, which is not easily spotted in scrums, mauls, etc.
With the backline something like this is much easier to spot.

To answer your question - see my pawn reference in an earlier post.

so the curie cup starting this week, and then next week the big one, TRI NATIONS

do you follow the currie cup, specially when the teams are without their SPRINGBOKS?

The currie cup only starts getting interesting towards the end of the comp, there is also no point in watching when the top teams play the leopards or kavaliers.

I would disagree and say that the captain has done a sterling job and if I'm not mistaken is our most capped captain. Who in your opinion would make a better captain?

I do whatch the CC from beginning to end.

You see new players developing. It is more competitive and I do enjoy any rugby for that matter...

well my team, THE LIONS, are playing against the bulls this w'end - and i'm not looking forward to it.
LIONS are rebuilding after firing the coach (why i ask), and the bulls, who are well, pretty hard to beat at any stage of the cc...

...but i'm holding thumbs that the LIONS pull a rabbit from hat

I have hope for the Lions. With Jake and Eddie there helping out, well at least that will help with their defense.

I'm a Western Province supporter and I don't see much hope for them yet. I'll still watch the game tomorrow though.

We are going to Loftus tomorrow....
Think the Bulls will win but not very far, although my SuperBru says by 18....
The Sharks will win. I have no doubt about that.

Is Jake White and Eddie (from overseas) with the Lions? Helping them out?

Yeah Jake's new company is auditing the Lions and helping them out. I think Eddie Jones is part of Jake's company. I can't remember what it is called. Will go have a look quickly.

Thanx for the effort.
I do hope the Lions get there act togheter (spelling....)(cold fingers)
I am actually pissed at them for firing their assistant coach but I guess that is politics... :(
