The firearms thread

Perhaps a question for it's own thread, but how did you end up in the French Foreign Legion?

And Tsar is definitely head-strong... but perhaps not in the way you mean, lol :p

I was going to go join the ffl. But I decided the royal marines commandos.
yeah I am ready stunt. you might get deployed three days after your training in the rmc. Which I don't mind not one to get home sick.

Why is it that Sig Sauer refuses to give SA an agent? Also, why is a second hand CZ Duty harder to find that the remains of an alien spaceship?

Been looking for a Sig, but not the 226's and what not. Far too expensive. 250c looks like a good option. But then again, there is the Glock 19, and the Duty, and and and.

But finding a sig is extremely difficult.

Anyone here into Clay Pigeon shooting?

Iv done it a couple of times and its AWESOME! It does get expensive, but its so much fun!

Have 3 mates that have Gauteng colors. They love it. I just can't bring myself to enjoy it. I enjoy shooting pumps though....

French mother, qualified me as a French citizen (I have dual citizenship) French Army was compulsory back then, so I went. Got bored and into plenty fights within the first few weeks, took advice from our RA and my cousin to attempt the FFL. 6 months of training saw me in the field for 18 months of Afghanistan under DCA with the Yanks and some Brits to fortify and uphold communal villages and transports - It was that or South America and I hate South America. 2 divisions of the 13th then followed a second tour under Yanks and NATO in Baghdad only for supply transport and security - worst 17 months of my life.

Commando's are tough dude, don't misunderstand. They're the toughest of the lot physically, we might fight them to the bone but when it comes to endurance they're top notch. FFL pride ourselves on cohesion, professionalism and combat accuracy. You will most likely meet quite a few FFL's out there. There are plenty in Africa and there's always shyte in Africa.

Bernhard Agencies are the SA Sig agents. TacShac in Northcliff have a couple of Sigs in stock, and they tell me they'll be getting the *full* Sig range in in the next few months (pistols, SLRs - there may well be a Sig 556 in my future - and the precision rifles). They had a 226 and a 250c when I was there this past weekend. 250c is very well priced. As to why CZ are hard to find - your guess is as good as mine. Never particularly liked the CZ firearms, so wasn't a consideration for me when I was getting the Sig.

Also, when new stock arrives, look at the S&W M&P 9C as an alternative to the Glock, CZ or P250c. Might get one as my new carry piece, and keep the Sig for SADPA shooting. Or I'll stay in the Sig family and get a 250c (extremely reasonably priced, actually).

Me!

An over-under is on my list of guns to get, but in the interim, I borrow :)

A nice clay pigeon range is a place called Hippo Creek, about 30 minutes outside of JHB on the N1 South. They have international-class clay pigeon ranges and facilities there (and rifle/pistol ranges, too!).

just out of interest sake i used to have the number for these people that do all the paperwork for you when applying for a licence and they have some guarantee that if its not accepted they will re lodge for free anyone know of these people

anybody here from GP and been to Guthries in Midrand? they let you use all sorts of cool firearms! Uzi's, R5, 44 Magnum, etc, etc

I met a few a while bank but they are deserters. I am good at endurance just grit my teeth and go. Thats why it appeals to me and its state of mind. Thats why I am giving my all to train and get supper fit for the rmc. But its something that you have to want to do, and not for the money either.

32 weeks of basic training they go through. And the officers have to go through everything doubled compared to the general duties marines.

FFl training is also very tough and shrouded in secrecy.

I actually called MRS T in December in regards to the S&W .40 So I am super keen on that as well!! Just hoping the price stays below R8000:(

@Tom, they shoot at doornkop mostly, but also closer to here in Henly-on-klip. They do travel a lot though.

I doubt they will stay below R8k :( exchange rate is screwing us properly.

It's crazy stupid. Was pricing Glocks and the guys said I better buy before Jan due to the price increasing. Stupid thing is, they increased it by a grand. That's slightly excessive.

The rand weakened by 13% or so between September last year, and now.

An R1k increase in the price of the pistol is pretty much in line with that.

I hate that we have to import anything (decent) firearms related :(

has anybody here installed Night Sights on your Glock? I was considering those Trijicons a while back. the current white paint on the glock is useless in dim light :-(

I would throw them on in a heartbeat. Last thing you want is to aim down a non existent barrel in the dark.
