The Golf Shot Thread

If budget is the major issue you could even look at Mashie courses. Still tons of fun!
ja golf is not exactly easy one the wallet. Mashies are fun but most of them arent kept to the standard of a golf course. And plus its fun to go and see what you can manage on a proper course.

True, I was just thinking that it might be an option. I am game either way, I love the game :)

i think we should organise a golfing day of some sort. with all the specials going around on groupon we can book a few 4balls and go have some fun

a 4ball at Jackal Creek is like not even R300

Great idea. I'll definitely join this. Will start looking at different course, as there are actual plenty of courses that are quite cheap but still fun to play. In Pretoria I'm thinking of Pretoria West Country Club, Services and Waterkloof (believe it or not). In Joburg I'll have to investigate further...

Akasia is also rather cheap, and they have specials sometimes.

Screw Akasia. That bloody course STOLE 9 of my balls in one day... ;)

But yeah Akasia is an option.

I gave up 4 balls to a single hole once.

Playing Sakabula in KZN (wonderful midlands course) with my brother-in-law.

I had scratched around a bit already and lost a few (not sure how many).

Got to the 18th.

You tee off over water.

You got to carry +/- 180 metres to the fairway on the other side.

Well, the harder I tried, the more I sliced the ball.

My brother in law was laughing his ass off at my expense. I refused to give up. But after 4 into the water I was beat.

Still love the course though.

I would have dropped to a lower iron in that case, but then again water has and never will scare me :P

I used these drills for about 2 hours every saturday for a month. It seriously helped my short game AND i have pretty much mastered the 7 iron "bump n run" with 2 chips ins :)

Some Good advice from this chap.

Doesn't scare me any more. When you've given up as many balls as I have to water, the fear is long gone. :p

Tbh, I really enjoy the par 3's with a bit of water in play. I'm quite comfortable (now) with my mid irons into the green. 6, 7 & 8 are my preferred distances. So that would be 140 to 175 metres.

I used to practice hitting old balls across a damn and trying to skim them as far as i could with a hockey stick. Was much fun, this video reminded me of those days.

Ja this is one of the best mashies in Jhb area. have played there a couple of times

Last time I went we couldn't get a beer after the game :( Also it does get really busy.

While I am at it,who else enjoys watching Jimenez? One of my favourites.

Golf balls are attracted to water as unerringly as the eye of a middle-aged man to a female bosom.
