Can't believe the release date is only next Friday! The waiting is killing me.
Polygon (the gaming offshoot of Verge) gave it a 7.5/10. So there's one pocket of resistance.
Of course something must deserve a 10/10; otherwise all you did was shift your review score ceiling down to 9 which equally means nothing. If 10's get sprinkled around too liberally then sure but in the case of Edge it's given 16 10's so far in somewhere around 20 years of publication, and I can't disagree with any of them except Gran Turismo which isn't my cup of tea at all.
The thing is, a perfect score =/= a perfect game. You'll notice that some reviews that give a perfect score will still note any flaws, concerns, or missteps found in the game, but some or other quantifiable quality outweighed the minor flaws in the game to merit a perfect score, whether it be the level of fun, design, story, or just the overall package.
So yes, there is no perfect game, but a game can deservedly achieve a perfect score.
All those games deserved that score. Rock Band was a 10/10.
lol mate
I don't even know what to say...You think those games deserved those scores? xD
Anyway I'll get it once the ps4 is available.
I personally think the 5 point system is the best.
1 Absolute garbage - Don't even buy it as a joke.
2 A bad game - Very few redeeming qualities.
3 Average - Only consider it if it looks like the kind of game or franchise you're really into.
4 Very good game - strongly consider getting it if it's a genre you're into.
5 Must have, every gamer should play this game.
Anything more than this you're just making random shit up in my opinion.
Yeah I'd say so. Guitar Hero was pretty revolutionary back in 2005. That whole rock themed game genre wouldn't have happened without it.
Check out Polygon's scale, pretty interesting.
Those seem very reasonable. I also like that fact that they are willing to update their scores if a game changes significantly, that's a nice policy.
That's a great definition of what constitutes a 10. Esp the Legend of Zelda bit. Man if a game ever approached perfection this is it. I don't know how they're going to bring LttP2 up to snuff.A score of 10 is the highest recommendation we can give. 10s represent ambitious games that succeed in ways few games have, and that we expect will be part of the gaming conversation for some time. These are the "must-plays." However, this is not a "perfect" score. We've never played a perfect game. Except for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
I don't like number systems. I like that RPS describes what they think.
