The Mods Thread

*For fixes and graphics updates check out Tsar's Widescreen fixes and mods

Anyway this thread is for when you stumble across a mod and you think we need to know about. Would also be cool if you're familiar with various mods of a game if you can single out the best of the bunch and which are compatible. Helps the rest of us to avoid stumbling about.

Also advice on whether a mod is worth the download would be appreciated. Save a possible victim some bandwidth and time.

That's more fixes and graphics this is for gameplay content

Busy with ARMA 2 The Unsung MOD (Vietnam War)

Still a bit rough around the edges and a work in progress but it's probably the most white knuckle gaming I've played. As with all ARMA games it's realistic. Jungle fire fights are nerve racking with bullets whizzing about with visibility around 2 meters. It's not all thick jungle though with rice paddies and small villages offering wide open spaces but they have there own inherent hazards.

Another great aspect is the freedom. It's basically you and your team and a large map. You're objective is simply search and destroy( although other mission do pop up like convoy ambushed). How you go about it is your business entirely.

If you're a fan of ARMA give this a try.

Google these:

CoD4/5 Pezbots
Company Of Heroes: Eastern Front
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Oblivion Lost
Freelancer: Crossfire
C&C3 Retarded

I downloaded Pezbot for COD4 and it sucks...I stood still for 1min while waiting for a bot to kill me...eventually I gave up and shot it in the head.

Another mod to watch closely is the Project Far Cry mod for Crysis

Project Far Cry was started as complete remake of the original Far Cry game. The mod's best feature is not only a remake, but total reconstruction of all the levels, assets and story. Our goal is to make Far Cry on a new CE3 engine with the best graphics, quality physics and a good story. We are looking for the missing parts in the game or maybe holes in the story and trying to fix everything. Currently the project is on the stage of Demo version for CryEngine2 (Crysis) and then it will be ported on CryEngine3 Crysis 2.

Request a mod to add this onto that thread then.

Oh and change the thread title so that it includes the word 'Mods'.

kthxbye

What version where you playing? V008 and earlier were the early attempts, the bots were kinda dumb. V009 and now V011 are lightyears ahead.

Continuing the theme of revitalising some classics here's C&C Generals: Zero Hour mod, Command & Conquer Tiberian Dawn Redux

Well, that classic game from the early 90's that spawned over a dozen titles and revolutionized the RTS Gaming World has been reincarnated in the advanced 3D World of the C&C Generals Zero Hour SAGE 3D Game Engine and looks better than ever! All the classic units and themes are back with changes and improvements over their originals, and one of the best video game soundtracks blasts in the background once again!

You can also explore events that occurred during the 35 years that went on after the First Tiberian War ended when Kane was first presumed dead. This includes the evolution of GDI and Nod and the expansion of the secret subfactions that both sides had established during the First Tiberian War while also exploring in detail some of new units that were developed and tested by both sides which even include those that eventually evolved into becoming the main battle forces seen in the Second Tiberium War.This Mod has the complete GDI and Nod factions available including two subfactions. GDI's Task Force Talon and the Nod Black Hand. The Mod also utilizes the Classic Construction Yard build system. If that was not enough, there are 18 Singleplayer Missions and over 120 Skirmish & Multiplayer maps which will also include your favorites featured in C&C Generals Zero Hour that have been vastly renovated to fit into the Mods atmosphere!

Here's a classic mod for Max Payne 2

7th Serpent is a third-person shooter modification for the Max Payne 2 game engine thrusting players into a world of corruption, secrecy and vengeance as they control Damon Pryce - the main character - who has been subjected to experimental testing and is left to his own devices in order to extract the truth from those who keep it from him.
