Anyone playing board games?

[Mod note: General discussion for all table top, figurine, and card-based board games of all sorts]
 
Dominion, Lords of Waterdeep, Munchkin, Ad Astra, Diplomacy etc, yeah I play board games ;-)

We have a little club going, we buy a new one every 6 months or so and get together to play once every 2 months or so.
 
I used to play rather straight forward board games: Risk, Monopoly, Cluedo (Afrikaans version of Clue) and Mad Magazine Game.
 
I want Arkham Horror but don't know where to get it. I have Eldritch Horror, Lord of the Rings LCG and Death Angel. Don't have anyone to play it with

You can play chess against me online if you want. I've been studying chess like crazy these last couple of years and have gotten quite good. :D I'm hoping to start playing otb tournaments next year.
 
I've heard there is not point to get Arkham Horror if you've got Eldritch Horror as they are so similar - personally Eldritch is newer and shinier. :D

We'll see. In truth I haven't played properly in like 10 years...but the game suits me personality wise so I can't be that far off the mark. What platform are you using?

I light of the discussions starting in another thread, and Eugene pointing out to us previous threads, I thought it would be good to resurrect this board game thread and discuss a bit further, seeing as we have mods that are just as interested.

So board games. I recently got to play Cards Against Humanity. Such a fun game. You have to play this with people that have dirty minds, as it makes the game so much more funny. What's more is you can make this game yourself. You don't even have to buy it (and it's all legal). Just go to the Cards Against Humanity website and download the PFD doc with all the playing cards and rules, then print it, buy some wine, gather your friends, and laugh your ass off.
 
I shall sticky this thread and we shall make it the go-to place for board game discussions :)

I've heard of Card Against Humanity - though I've never really played it. Usually when the usual crowd gets together to play, it's something along the lines of Chaos in the Old World or Infiltration.

Must say, I haven't played table-tops in a long time - last time I played, we hit Cosmic Encounters which was really fun.

I'd like to include Tabletop RPGs in this thread too (that's why I wanted to start a new thread): games like DnD, Numenera, Pathfinder, World of Darkness games etc.

I love Cards Against humanity it's fantastic, but not for the easily offended. In fact, it's not for anyone that will be offended by anything :D

I'm currently playing a lot of King of Tokyo. It's amazingly easy to learn and appeals to just about everyone.
 
I haven't played DnD is such a long time that I'll probably suck at it. We used to have DnD weekends when I was still in uni. I miss those days.
