Being a forum admin for another forum I can tell you that this is not new or unique. The application of rules will always result in some form of animosity, it's what happens after which is really important.
 
So are we ending the whole steam gifting community ? It was fun while it lasted, I liked to do one giveaway a month of a good game, I enjoy giving out games that you can see people really want. It is a shame that this all has to come to an end over a simple disagreement.

I am completely neutral on this, I understand where both parties are coming from, But I don't think this should be the end of all things. There was a good community in here, a place where you can see the value of the community to it's members. Maybe we can just give Dampi a temporary suspension, and things can carry on the way they were ? I don't think there is a need for people to leave because of drama, it's not really drama, just a disagreement on the internet, it seems like this is being blown way out of proportion.

So, hopefully we can keep doing this, either how it's always been or in the "pay it forward" medium.

Stick around, we'll see whose left when the dust settles. If we act more like a community, and less like a clique I'll stick around and continue doing give-aways as before.
 
Well i have created some GA's and i have won my share and i like this community and it's actually caused me to make some nice friends here with the GA's and what not. TBH i hope it doesn't end and i'll stick around if you guys don't mind :D

I don't agree that I caused this, in my opinion Eugene caused this when he decided to kick Dampi from the group. That was the catalyst that started everything. I however agree completely that this entire mess could have been averted completely. This was suppose to be a group for the community by the community, but instead it was taken over and controller by some. It was no longer a case of majority decides on the way forward. A simple "I propose that we kick out the following people, any objections", or "this might be controversial, what are your opinions" could have averted all of this.

Have you read the personal insults in the poll threat? Does that sound like a nice community to you?

I was honestly surprised to see that dampi was kicked this morning and I enquired, because I see him as one of us. Just like I would stand up and defend you if I felt that you were being attacked unjustly.

My 10 cent contribution here is that Dampi has graciously accepted the decision and understands the reasoning. So if he becomes active in other threads then he will be welcomed back with open arms.

Wyzak, sorry dude , but you appear to be the only one that is making this a huge scene. If you do not agree with the rules of the forum and this give away group then there is no compulsion to continue entering and/or creating give aways. But the rest of us enjoy the GA vibe

Edit : I don't personally know Eugene at all, but from what I have seen on forums he is a major contributor across the board, and on this sub thread in particular. Don't know why you have such venom towards him in particular ?

He was asking that we clarify rules... There is no set definition of 'a long time', so that leaves room for interpretation. When he politely asked for clarification, people shat on him and threw their toys out the cot..

Fuck that, I'm out too.

EDIT: Never thought I'd be a part of the lazygamer steam group, but not MyG. :( C’est la vie, I guess.

If my request for an explanation caused this whole fracas, then we were balanced on such a knife edge that this house of cards would have come crashing down at the slightest nudge.

This is suppose to be a community group, for the community, by the community where the community makes decisions.

The rules which everybody keeps referring to makes no mention of a suitable punishment. Clearly some people felt that dampi was an active member of the community and other's didn't. Why could we not discuss this like adults? Was it really in the interest of the community to kick Dampi from this group and start this whole chain of events? Would it not have been better to warn Dampi officially and tell him to post more outside the thread or there will be consequences? The MyGaming forum also has rules, but if you break one you are warned, you don't summarily get your account banned and get slapped with an IP-ban.

This is my final goodbye from any involvement with this group. Good luck and hope you lot have fun giving you stuff away to people who arent contributing to the forums/ are not active outside this thread, which once again was the MAIN reason of making this group.

The rules stated 20 posts outside the forums in 2 months - no offence Monk but one post in Jan and then the last before that was in Nov last year . . . Please explain why I should give away my extra games to someone who isnt active here anymore? That is why I left the group before the drama Monk.

Like Wyvern said, the group was created mainly to reward people for activity, nothing more, nothing less. Now, since you've successfully driven out the people that started it, you're welcome to do with it as you please. Might as well go back to using the old non-"elite" group, and give away all the games to a bunch of freeloading foreigners, like back when we first started the thing.
