The Official "MyGaming" Anime Thread

Did a bit of a Code Geass marathon over the weekend - the second season was epic. Plot twists galore - I loved every minute.

There's a 3rd season due in January 2012 - I doubt it's a continuation of the current series though. Seems to be a related spin-off or side story, but it begs the question - why?

I really don't think it will be any good.

zero never dies! although yeah its not needed

No I say, to spinoff. Lets hope its better than blood plus.

you mean blood c? got bored.. the fights are decent but not my type of show

I'm kinda with you on that one, but I will dip my toe in the waters just in case. But how they'll fit into the story is a mystery - because there's definitely no after - Code Geass finished off pretty damn solidly in my book.

Anyways - watching Vampire Knight now to prep for watching Vampire Knight Guilty (refresher run), and then a coupla golden oldies: Urusei Yatsura and Fushigi no Umi no Nadia.

shadowfox, seen blood-c ?

Know about it, want to watch it - I have this habit of not watching new shows though, at least until they've finished airing. It's a little stupid, I know, especially considering that I blog about anime and the industry - but I've got such a backlog on my drive; if I start watching new shows I'll never catch up.

It's better to wait, but sometimes I have to take a dip and just peek :D

Totally, it was one of the most solid endings in an anime.

never watched vampire knight past season 1.. i dont think i can ever go back to old school anime
spoilt with the production values of current shows
even the ecchi shows are all shiny and easy on the eye

Haha ... so you're saying early 90's boob isn't good enough for you anymore? :p

Well ... they do know what their fans like I suppose - Urusei Yatsura aired in 1981 I think, and a flash of cleavage without all the delicate cel-shading they have nowadays isn't the same thing. All the same, shows like that I can still appreciate. Nadia, interestingly enough, was animated by Gainax, and they are, or were quite well known for their relatively high levels of fanservice.

Talking about old/classic shows though, I can still watch Ranma - no matter how shoddy folks think the animation is compared to now. I happened to think Shampoo was quite a babe :D

No not blood C. Look up blood plus it was a long drama. Not as good as blood the last vampier.

Personally I loved Blood + -- it had everything that Blood the Last Vampire didn't. Plot development, character development, solid storyline. I'm not bashing Last Vampire by any means - it was solid in it's own way. They share same universe to some degree, but they're two very different series.

B+ a bit dramatic but not bad either. Very watchable :)

Though I prefer LastVampire. Still Not many real decent vampire animation out there I've seen apart from Hellsing and Trinity.

That is true, I did not mean to bash Blood plus I personal found it hard to finish just like monster the anime.

Well ... I'll be the first to admit that Blood+ wouldn't be to everyone's taste - it did lean very much towards the drama side of things - then again, that kinda happens to be one of my preferences :p

Give Dance in the Vampire Bund a try - I found that quite enjoyable as well. A bit on the short side, but that might stop it from becoming to drawn out for some people.

Other Vampire related series I enjoyed as well were Lunar Legend Tsukihime (and I now suddenly have an urge to watch it again ... damn), and ... well ... I doubt Moon Phase will be everyone's cup of tea as well, since it's more light-hearted - but that made it into my retail DVD collection. I still need to watch Shiki.
