The Official "MyGaming" Anime Thread

lol no. not about the ecchi. its just that even the generic shows right(mostly ecchi) now have spoilt my eyes. they all look shiny compared to any show pre 2000.. i still need to watch cowboy bebop :/

anyone watched hell girl?

Yes ... all three seasons - loved it. I've got the first season on DVD :)

Again though, it's one of those series that's hard to really recommend to people :p

yes that is true, a strange I idea of a series. I watched the first season and had to watch one after the other to get the story.
Just watched the 6th episode of break blade (broken blade) if you like mecca with a twist watch this. all I can say is now I have to read the manga to get more of the story line. did i mention that each episode is about 60 min, its like 6 mini movies awesome!

DRAGONBALLZ....best anime ever

Ummm ... no. Not ever. It's popular, certainly, but popularity doesn't indicate quality.

It's probably also responsible for a lot of people not being able to get away from the "anime is for kids" mindset.

Finally - with that being said - I hate Dragonball Z. With a passion.

The episodes are so drawn out.
I agree with you. That said I am a huge fan of black lagoon and full metal panic :D

More like the fights being drawn out. My nephew was watching it the one day ... and people were fighting (or rather, busy explaining to his enemy why he was about to die horribly). Walked past the TV a week later, and I see the same people fighting. When I asked him about it, it turns out it was the same fight. I was like "Holy crap, do they ever stop talking and throw an actual punch?"

Turns out I missed that episode's punch by a minute or so.

It's one of the reasons I'm not terribly fond of Naruto and Bleach either, despite having watched both. They spend to much time talking about what they're doing, what they're going to do, why their opponent's previous attack didn't end the fight, and then, of course, explaining why their next attack is going to make their opponent die horribly - like, seriously - stop mouthing off and deck the bloke already. And then, surprise surprise, their opponent doesn't die horribly, and they take the cue and start the cycle again in the opposite direction.

And this goes on for 3 or 4 episodes, and then in the final episode a mosquito sneezes and someone is distracted at a critical moment, and despite resisting attacks that took out the local mountain range, someone is knocked out by the weakest attack on the planet.

lol.

B Gata is the very definition of awkward romance - I loved every minute of it. And it's kinda nice to see the shoe on the other foot for a change - with the perverted girl focusing on one guy.

There's an older series I can recommend as well - if you haven't watched it yet - Green Green. I'll just warn you beforehand, some of the situations in there are very ... errr ... off-center.

Green green had some brilliant humour although the ending was very :(

Do you know of anymore anime like this?

Hmmm ... the obvious mention here would be Toradora! maybe - although B Gata H Kei was pretty unique in some ways. I can't really think of anything very much alike. But - if you take it in terms of what it was (light-hearted comedy romance) then I can probably also compare it to:

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu - random middle school bloke accidentally discovers the secret of the prettiest girl in school - it was fun and kinda heartwarming at the same time

Nyan-koi - almost completely different, but I reckon Tsar enjoyed it quite a bit :D Romantic comedy as well.

Midori no Hibi - a couple of years old this one, but with a nice peculiar angle to it

Hmmm ... and then I've heard MM! is in a similar vein, but I haven't watched it yet, so I can't say for sure.

You guys will have to cut me some slack if I'm recommending things I've mentioned before, or that you've seen before - it's a little hard to keep track :p

I found some thing to watch To Aru Majutsu no Index II, there is just to much loli ecchic for my taste by has a good story line.
