True. But that said at least I managed to watch a few shows I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. For quite a while it was my only real source of anime. It sad that MC allowed the channel to get so pathetic and then they say it flopped.....yeah it flopped because of the pathetic content you A-holes allowed to be put on :mad:

I am thinking of downloading devil may cry anime but I am not sure.

Which bit? Animax closing down or the new channel coming in it's place?

It's a pity Animax is going, but in it's current format it wasn't doing anybody any favours. Someone commented on my blog that we should try and get TopTV to start an anime channel - it's an idea certainly.

All it needs is to be managed properly, preferably by some people with knowledge, or better yet, a passion for the anime industry. All you need to do is look at Animax Hong Kong, Animax India, and some of the other Asian versions of the channel - they have new series, movies, music - I think Animax India was even running a special that covers the 2010 ComicCon.

Multichoice, and Sony UK, obviously don't have the right people (UK doesn't even have an Animax channel).

That Animax has closed down, I use to watch a ton of Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke.
 
Animax was awesome when it first started up. I though it was epic that we finally had anime shows on DSTV but I could see about last beginning of this year when no new shows were coming out that the channel was not going to last.
From the article on mybroadband:
“The reason why ANIMAX is going off air is because the Japanese anime genre that was featured on the channel did not attract the broad viewing audience that MultiChoice had targeted,” said Groenewald
No, a couple of the shows were stupid and animax did stupid re-runs like Bleach 1 to 30s somewhere then REPEAT never getting further.
You can't have the same shows repeating over and over again, then bringing in old series that where on air 2 year ago too look 'new'.
 
HAHAHAHAHA :D I think the fact that Animax has been cancelled has still not reached the public awareness. One of the searches that came into my blog yesterday: "Where the f*ck is Animax"

Finished watching an anime by the name of Seitokai Yakuindomo - purely accidental discovery btw.

It's a good laugh, although you need a good understanding of tsukommi, since that is where most of the humour lies. If I had to compare it to anything ... hmmm ... maybe Lucky Star would be the closest.

Thoroughly enjoyed it though - it's been a while since I've been able to polish off an entire series as quickly.
