The Official "MyGaming" Anime Thread

Found it hard to get into, the initial starter pkot did not pull me in but once it starts with the better mysteries I find myself watching it over what ever else have.

Calling it now, FREE is the show of 2014 Man Service ftw /jk. Bakumatsu seems 'colourful' will see how it pans out.

Eh ... DRAMAtical Murder and Love Stage!! are still coming. Specifically catering to the ladies. Bakumatsu Rock is just a little too ridiculous for me, and Free! I have little interest in.

Glasslip and Argevollen are kicking off tonight ... keen to see what the former is up to.

Is man service like ecchi

Well Ecchi can mean various things in Japanese. Let's just say manservice (like fanservice) is a sub-genre of anime where we get to see panty and bra shots (mostly in silly manners, by accident or by intention of a 3rd party) Manservice would be the same version, jsut for women. The picture puts it into perspective.

Zankyō no Teroru, that it probably what I am anticipating the most so far.

So are there any anime's that have both ecchi and manservice in them... And are there any decent anime's that are ecchi / man service...

Isn't it also called yaoi?

Yaoi as far as my knowledge extends is boy on boy or a homo erotic type of anime or manga. [I]Manservice in the case of Free! Is just muscular guys showing off their bodies 70% of the show ~Something for the ladies to look at~. Some people may find it homo erotic (depends on your tolerance level I presume).

As for Yaoi Anime, I only know of No. 6 and Black Butler and UraBoku (more a Shonen-ai). As for manga you can check out mangafox just search for Yaoi, there has got to be tons of it.

Ecchi stuff I have watched is high school of the dead and highschool dxd... The humongous breasts don't really do it for me. :/

Would elfen lied be considered ecchi? I felt the nudity was used in service of the show's feel rather than just as fan service.

It appeals to the Asian market due to the average bust size in most Asian women being a little smaller than the world average.

Most of your ecchi tagged shows will have characters with massive breasts (at the very least one) - I have no idea why, but the creators seem fascinated by them. Although Infinite Stratos wasn't too bad in this respect. If you're looking for other ecchi shows that don't have planet sized boobs all over the place ... hmmm ... let's see ...

Yosuga no Sora - drama type, but don't watch it if you're bothered by elements of incest in the show
Shuffle! - romantic comedy/drama
Dakara Boku wa Ecchi ga Dekinai - fairly recent show
Chu-Bra - Comedy
Green Green - Comedy
Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun - romantic comedy
Johikousei/High School Girls - romantic comedy
Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! - comedy/harem

I could go on ... there's quite alot out there tbh.

As for Elfen Lied - while it had elements that would be considered ecchi, I'd be inclined to agree with you that it served more of a purpose in the show apart from just being regular fan-service (Evangelion did this too to a degree).

Just general man-service wouldn't fall under the yaoi tag ... it refers specifically to male-on-male (or gay, if you prefer) romance, and in yaoi series you would expect to see specific scenes of sexual activity. The tamer version of this would be shounen-ai (or boys love) in which elements of male-on-male romance is present, but there's nothing explicit.

It's actually pretty difficult to nail down the exact degree of BL present before it switches to yaoi - lovers of the genre will be able to better explain it to you, although I'd bet opinions differ.

Free!, however, doesn't fall under either. It's just the opposite gender version of cleavage/pantyshots, really.

Interesting stuff... Next question... Why is it that in most the Anime I have watched the characters are all so young? Or at least the girls are so young or look really young. Is the Anime market all geared towards young people? I kinda doubt that because of the mature content in some of the Anime's... Is it just because people want to see it?

Its mainly aimed at teens and kids. In japan if you are an adult and watching anime its looked down upon though not the case with manga. Also they seem to like cuteness above all else :p

Not entirely true, Anime is massively popular in Japan with many demographics, since it is a part of their culture.

Would not be surprised, it's easily accessed and can be read just like a magazine whenever and wherever you are.

I said the anime not the manga. The manga is more popular than anime. Not saying its not big or anything just saying its not as big as a lot of people think it is. I have a japanese friend and told me all about it.

Introduce me! :D I need to get my hands on some Ramune, that stuff is seriously addictive, along with Morning Rescue.

Always been inlove with japan. MY first friends mom comes from tokyo funny story with her. She dated a yakuza and her father found out and burnt all her stuff lol.

Oh dear. It looks like this is going to be a horribly busy season for me.

As of last night, I have already picked up:

Akame ga Kill - fantasy and action is always a good mix
Barakamon - comedy - the first episode was promising
Rail Wars - interesting premise - first ep felt a little rushed though
Sword Art Online II - because SAO
Futsuu no Joshikousei ga Locodol Yattemitta - school idols, but not on the same level as Love Live - looks entertaining enough though
Tokyo Ghoul - more gore and violence, but it looks like Funi is going to be censoring the crap out of it
Glasslip - still iffy about this, but in terms of visuals PA Works is always top-notch
Sailor Moon Crystal - Usagi's voice still annoying? Check

And then of course, holdovers from last season - Baby Steps and Mahou Koukou no Rettousei

This list is going to get a bit longer before the end of this week.

Also - I'll post the results of my Spring 2014 Favourites a little later today - I'm just making it prettier. The results were kinda disappointing though.

Watched the first episode of space dandy season 2. What a laugh love it.

Never made it through the first season - so I doubt I'll be picking up season 2.

In any case, here are the results of the vote for the Spring 2014 shows - I'm a bit disappointed by the general lack of interest by the local anime fan community, but I promised to post it, so here it is:
