The official Witcher 3 thread

Spoilers I guess (highlight to read): Something I saw from the trailer, when Geralt is speaking to the Nilgaardian emperor, he's not in Nifgaard. That's the throne room in Vizima; Nilgaardian invasion into the North has been successful it would seem.

It looks as if Geralt's fellow Witchers will be playing a bigger role in this one, and that Kaer Morhen is back. Also, what was up with the Geralt's constantly changing appearance in that trailer, makes me think that some of that must have been CGI. If they have him look like this, I'll be happy.

Some gameplay from Microsoft conference at E3:

Not the best video quality, but still. Looks fucking amazing!

Agreed. Compared to what the Witcher 2 looked like when it was in a similar development stage, this is incredible. I'm glad they delayed it, they need all the time they can get with this one.

Can't wait!

Also, here's a slightly better quality version

Nitpicks: I'm still not digging the giant shoulder armor. It doesn't make sense that he would need that much protection on his shoulders. He's a Witcher, not a tank. Realistically, that would slow him down way too much to be useful. Makes his head look tiny as well.

I had hoped that from the second latest trailer (sword of destiny one), that the the 'corset' was gone, but then again, this could be older footage. Still, I'm a bit worried, his waist is too small. It should be changed by launch, but the fact that they keep showing it makes me a bit worried. It doesn't look right. The thin waist coupled with the massive shoulder pads makes him look so strange, especially since in the last game we had such excellent armor design.

Another gameplay trailer. Look at Novigrad, it's massive. Those 800 series cards better be out before TW3 launches.

Some great quotes: "This is a brothel." and "We are formidable." :D

I didn't believe them when they said that 2 regions in their map are bigger than the entirety of Skyrim, but after seeing this, I believe them. You still have the Skellige Islands, No Mans Land, the forest outside of Novigrad, parts of Vizima and Kaer Morhen. Each with their own specific ecosystems. I am impressed. The previous video didn't really do it for me, but this one was great.

I'm glad that Geralt looks less pissed off now (ironically, the thumbnail shows pissed off Geralt). Also the return of the unnaturally white hair was cool, makes him look more like a mutant, like he should.

I can't wait for this game, probably my most anticipated till next year. They really seem to be pressing all the buttons i enjoy, I hope they achieve their goal.
Just a note: the gamespot and ign footage was done on PC (you can also tell because of nvidia hair), only the microsoft conference footage was on Xone.

Also first post :)

It would seem that you are right. The demo shown at the Microsoft Conference was the only one (obviously) running on the XB1. That screen tearing in the IGN and GS videos is looking rather bad though, guess they forgot to put on Vsync. That nVidia hair looks pretty bad if I'm honest, it's clipping through clipping badly through his armor.

The final video, showing No Mans Land is on the PC. Gameplay is rather quick, but the interview is decent. I don't think this one is at the highest settings, they're probably playing it safe at medium-high.

Just a heads up, Witcher 3 design docs were leaked. A hacker managed to get access to a CD Projekt RED's Google Docs account, spoilers for the end game are apparently circling 'round the net.

I will say though, that as proof the person responsible released some unseen artwork. Included are some beastiary designs and some concept art of Triss's new outfit (which looks awesome by the way, although very different to what we saw in the Sword of Destiny Trailer. It was labeled as non-spoilery so I took a look.

In contradiction to that though, some people are saying that's its nothing major, just general quest information and plot outlines, which could lead you to make assumptions yourself. - Nope, after looking at the files, these people are wrong. The 3 major endings and 12 'world states' per ending are in the excel docs.

Either way, play if safe out there. You don't want to get spoiled 9 months in advance. Hopefully they don't change anything because of the leak. I don't need another Bioware situation over here.

EDIT #2: If you really want some info about the files, PM me. I have them, and have avoided the spoilers. What I did look at though, was really cool and greatly increased my anticipation for the game.

CDP are saying that they classify these as stolen, so I've removed any links and most of my opinions based on them.

The behind closed doors, 40 minute E3 demo was fucking amazing. The transcript was included in the files.

So now there's a Witcher moba. I honestly don't think anyone asked for this. I'm getting concerned that CDP are trying to 'un-niche' - for a lack of better word - the Witcher series.

It doesn't need mass market appeal. I have a feeling this will be a flop and a waste of time for the developers involved.

Still, seems like a waste of resources. I don't play moba's, but isn't the genre already saturated?

On PC it is very saturated but not so sure on the mobile side of things.
I am not to bothered about it though...I know The Witcher 3 will be epic and that's all that matters lol

I just got the best fucking gift ever! I got a Geralt statue from E3 and free digital copy of Witcher 3 on GOG!!!

Now I'm gonna have to upgrade my PC. Was planning on playing it on PS4 initially (will still get both a PC CE and a PS4 copy), but now that I already own it on PC I just have try and play it on PC from the beginning.

Dude, that's epic. Congrats!

Mind if I ask how? :D

Let's just say someone awesome who went to E3 knew I was a big fan. ;)

Lucky bugger :D

I plan on using the takealot voucher I got from the iGame guys to get the retail copy. That is if it's actually available here, which I hope it will be. Witcher 1 and 2 were sold here. I don't see any pre-orders though, which is strange considering the retailers usually love offering pre-orders.

I think most people will need to upgrade their PC's ;)

Collector's Edition now available for pre-order at BT for anyone interested. No price yet but you need to put down a R100 deposit to secure your order. Put my order in earlier today. Super excited. :D

I thought CDP-RED said that they had all been sold out a couple days after the Collectors Edition/GOG Galaxy announcement.

Unless they made more? Or were they only referring to regions that already had preorders available?

Rather good interview covering some of the new combat additions.
